Don't come here often, but there's a certain forum issue that I've gotten sick and tired of. The entire thread "And America Continues to Show its True Colors" has been nothing but a drecchish hate-fest since the first post and the first reported post. All it does is keep generating stupid fights between forum members, fights I've had to put out or mollify by outright deleting posts where people have been rude to each other. Frog it, if you have such a frogging problem, then contact Phillip with your specific gripes and the specific posts, because I've had enough of the whole thing. In my opinion the thread should just be point blank deleted, but nooooooo, that'd hurt too many people's feelings what with another thread deletion.

And another related thing. Why the heck have people returned to keep posting in the Steve Whitmire/Matt Vogel thread? People, it's been half a year, the change in performers has taken place, get over it and get over yourselves. :grouchy:
Dude, I'd give you a cookie for this! It's like you completely read my mind!

Yes! This is what we've been saying for a long time now! Thank you for being vocal about this!

I'm sick of the "And America Blah-Blah-Blah..." thread, too. I think it should be closed (not deleted, though).
I think it should be deleted. Like The Count said, it's pretty much nothing but hate and passive aggressiveness. The original Trump thread, on the other hand, I wish hadn't been deleted, because like @D'Snowth has said, we had an amazing break through after months of fighting and insults. We thought that it would never end, when suddenly we realized how stupid we were being and decided that our political differences weren't worth fighting about. The thread became a lot more light hearted after that, and we all grew a lot closer to each other because of it. It was a beautiful moment in the forum's history, and one i'm still proud I got to witness and be a part of.
The America thread, on the other hand has just slowly reignited those old fights (two specific members come to mind). Certainly not as bad as it was, but slowly bubbling up anger can sometimes be even more dangerous than blatant outright hatred.

Okay, now that I think about it, deleting the America thread would probably be for the best. I don't give a cuss about losing posts and likes anymore, I just want that stupid thread to be gone. I am so sick and tired of all the arguments that keep starting there, and I wish we would all just put our differences aside and get along with each other.

This is why I can't stand politics and leap years for that matter.

And it's sad because I read a story many friendships and relationships ended because of the 2016 elections. I even lost a friend who I used to be very close with until he began to change slowly because of it.

In regards to the America/Trump thread, as I said, there's one specific member who never made the same breakthrough that the rest of us did back in the first thread, but said member continues to instigate arguments (except with Jamie, those two somehow have found common ground with each other), and said member pretty much reduced their posts to quoting negative quotes about liberals, probably because a majority of the thread was calling out conservatives on all the bullcrap they're doing to destroy the country from within.

Regarding friendships and such, this hasn't happened with me so far, because I feel as though this is contributing to the division in our country. I, surprisingly, do have a small number of friends who actually do support and defend Trump at every opportunity - I don't understand what they see so positively about him or how they think he's somehow doing a great job at improving the country, but I just never speak politics with them. I haven't unfriended anybody over politics - I've had to put up with this kind of stuff pretty much all my life, as mine is a red state, even though I'm blue . . . call me an SJW, but I know what it's like to be a liberal oppressed by conservatives: they automatically think we're a bunch of braindead idiots who are from Mars and should just leave the country altogether, so whenever they're in control, they like to try and silence our voices and opinions because they think we're just dumb . . . I'm sure @Censored can attest to this. The loss of friends over political differences is bad enough, but even worse when it drives wedges between families: my cousin and his wife are actually being unfriended and blocked by their own family members for not supporting Trump (my cousin is even a Marine, so some of his relatives are accusing him of being an unpatriotic, anti-American traitor).

I've only unfollowed people on Facebook for politics but that's it. They still have the right to talk to me. I only delete them if they try to antagonize me personally.

In regards to unfollowing, it's also because alot of posts are biased and or end up having arguments started on every post.

Is it sad that I'm actually now kind of counting down how many days of this year we have left?

Like, it's sad too because I already don't have high expectations for 2018 cause these last two years (2016 and this one) have both been pretty bad for me, both for personal issues and just what's been going on with this country in both, and I really hate having low expectations. But sometimes, there are instances where I feel like when something feels predictable, I feel like I just KNOW what's going to happen even if I might come off as biased.

That's not a good place to be. And I've seen it with a few others on here at various times.
Even with Trump being president, you can't scale back your agenda from low expectations to no expectations.
Some had the attitude everything in their lives was just fine until Trump got elected. Nobody was depressed, nobody had anxieties, nobody had fears, then BAM! Now we'll have these neuroses until he gets impeached.

@LittleJerry92, you're one of the coolest people on here and I like you a lot. This is not addressed specifically to you, but for anyone who cares to read this.

No matter who is in the White House, you still have to live your life the best you can. You still have to treat people well, respect them, give them a little leeway, give them a little grace, and let God do the rest (if the mention of the "G" word bothers some of you, keep doing your best anyway).

It seems like every year for the past ten years, once the year is over, everybody breathes a sigh of relief. Bad stuff happens every year. Celebrities die. Loved ones die. Disasters happen. TV shows get cancelled. People lose jobs. Wars happen. And the Krapdashians are still here. UGH!

But when bad things happen and people get disappointed, they stop trying. They lose hope. They get stuck in a bad frame of mind where they can't move forward. Then it becomes REALLY EASY to complain, to feel like nobody has it as bad as you, other people have it good, but you got left out. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.

I've mentioned this to Drtooth a number of times, for all the good it's done:
If you expect bad things to happen to you, that's exactly what will happen to you.
So if you expect good things to come your way, even if only half of them work out, 50% good is still better than 100% bad.

This wasn't the best year for me, either, but like the rest of you. I'm still standing.
