How true that is on all accounts. Both groups feed into each other and they need each other to stay relevant. The problem is "relevant" means complaining about how much it stinks to be them.
It's the reason why politics needs to stay out of our religion and religion needs to stay out of our politics. The news media (left and right) ruins everything!

Both parties need to start looking at the man behind the curtain.

The thing is there are times when our politics are immoral, and other times when organized religion is wrong. Who are they both going to answer to so they don't betray us? That's why we need checks and balances.

Oh, and I'm going to add one thing I forgot to say.

The fact that a couple whiny people call Christians stupid being considered "persecution" just about shows how much Americans are wienies (can't use the other word). Look. Someone says something stupid to you. Yeah, that sucks. I get it. But the thing is, we have a big, dark, violent world out there where you could be killed for exclaiming that you are Christian, or even for being the "wrong" kind of Christian. THAT'S persecution. Being fed to the lions by everyone's mutual Historical enemy, the Romans (who, true to form, stole that religion too)... THAT'S persecution. A couple no influence in the government at all guys calling people names passive aggressively like the fat girls table at a high school talks about the popular girls is just that. Passive Aggressive name calling.

And TRUST me on Passive Aggressive. My entire family is so passive aggressive, I know what the stuff is and how to identify it.

It is First World Persecution, no doubt about it, lol.

First World persecution as in First world nutrition crisis is that our kids are fat from drinking Hi-C, and not that our kids are dying from drinking water with animal diarrhea in it.

History is full of stories of religious persecution where either those died defending their beliefs or killed pushing their beliefs. A little name calling is completely and utterly microscopic.

But my main problem is thus...

Why does everyone supposedly hate Christians in this country? Because they want to have all the power, or rather their leaders do. The Catholic Church wants a HUGE say in our government, but they don't want to give up their tax exempt status. That's just one example. I said it before and I'll say it again. The law of the Land is separation of Church and state, and we ALL have to follow those rules. And not all of us have money or influence to buy up the government and give us loopholes. We should NOT have laws based on hang ups rationalized by some obscure religious passage.

Laws are written to protect us from being killed, raped, and any other harm befalling us, punishing those who have harmed us. Not stopping us from getting things or marrying people of a consenting age because some guy doesn't like it. We have these guys complaining about Government over-reach, and how we have to deregulate business so they can find cheap, corner cutting reach arounds that do indeed harm us (I.e. the decisions that lead to the banking collapse), but these same people want big old government to protect them from the gays and women who dare have cysts they want to control so they don't... you know... die.

As much as I have a distaste for the "Hands offen mah gold" old prospector with an old timey rifle aspects of Libertarianism, I'm hearing more and more things like allowing gay marriage and isolationism that make more sense than the other 2 parties combined. THAT stuff is the dangerous government overreach we should be worried about.

That's one reason, but not the only one. Christianity has some unpopular views on issues that some people just don't want to hear.

Not all of us.

We do on the other hand have laws against polygamy and rightfully so. I don't have a problem with gay marriage but sometimes laws do need to be about denying people the right to do things.

But it shouldn't be about an obscure passage about Levitican Law. If it was, we'd be arrested for wearing poly-blend T-Shirts and eating Shrimp.

There are things that should be law and things that shouldn't. I don't see why it's legal for 5 year olds to marry 50 year olds in some states. But then again, I find drug law to be so incredibly arbitrary and useless. Addicts still can get what they shouldn't, and when they get caught, all it does is choke up our prison system, all the while fueling Cartel wars. We need better legislation on that than just punish the wrong people and toss billions of dollars into keeping out five bucks worth of stuff. while the rest of it sneaks in. That protects less people than they think it does.

I wish chemists would come up with an anti-drug-addiction vaccine...were such a thing even vaguely possible. Take it, and if you then take coke or heroin or meth you immediately become so gut-exploding sick you will never, ever want to even smell the stuff again...man, that'd end the demand for dangerous drugs, period.

Dreamin' on...

Yeah, because something like that falls into the category of finding cures for cancer and AIDS: there's other things more important, like, bin Laden wanted to the change Al-Quaeda's name.

Does anyone else here have Comcast/xfinity? Have you seen the Music Choice overhaul? It's terrible! What, did we suddenly jump back into the early 90s-era Prevue Channel technology or something? They must have gotten really lazy or something.
