What's wrong with Baby Rowlf?

I think what they should have done was make him interested in books. There was never really a character that loved books or stories. And Baby Rowlf never had any sense of humour! He was always the most intolerent Baby when it came to Baby Fozzie's jokes.

They could have had Baby Rowlf maybe be calm, but at the same time, give off a friendly personality. They also could have had him making more canine puns, and puns in general could have been part of his "shtick".

To be honest, I'm a little surprised that Jim Henson himself didn't see to it that Baby Rowlf's personality was brought out just right.. That was one of his prize characters he was including in this!

I think the other thing is that it wasn't the regular Muppet Writers involved, so that probably caused a bit of a loss of character personalities.

I thought that they all had great personalities. Not encluding Bean who I think should have been strung up by the Big Bad Wolf discuissed as Darth Vader and eaten for lunch by Hannibal Lector!!!

They had personalities, but NOT what you'd expect. The discussion of Rowlf is a great example of it all. Not at all what you'd expect of Rowlf. I think they went too over-the-top on Baby Fozzie and his jokiness--they didn't pay attention to the personality which is Fozzie, meaning they didn't play off his love of his friends and his big heart, regardless how silly he normally is.

Had they taken more time to study TMS and write the characters' personalities based on that but dumb it down a little THEN it would have been better.

But, I'm not a huge MB fan, so I may be biased.

Nah, I don't think you're biased. I agree with you, and I'm probably the biggest Muppet Babies fan on the board! I don't think Baby Fozzie's "jokiness" was the problem at hand however. Granted, he did go over the top at times, but I think his biggest problem was that they made him too stupid. Although Fozzie can be a little dim at times, he was never that thick-skulled.

And I also agree with a thought brought up earlier. Out of all the Muppet Babies, Baby Rowlf is the only one that isn't consistant with his adult form! His face isn't beige, and his mouth isn't black. I wonder what the deal was with that? He doesn't look a thing like the Rowlf the Dog that we all know!

Actually I liked Rowlf baby form, but then that may just be me, I thought that Kermit's was the worst. And Gonzos.

I liked Rowlf and Piggy and Fozzie's, but then again I have only seen three.

This is true.. Times like this I wish that Muppet Babies had been a live action show rather than animated. Because Jim Henson would have been more involved, and the personalities would have been better. And Baby Rowlf would have turned out a lot better..because one thing is for sure, the puppet version of him is one of the cutest things out there!

Unfortunately, that's even the most underused out of all the other Muppet Babies puppets...>.<
