Apparantley, a lot of Muppet bloopers and outtakes are pretty bad and littered w/ swear words, which wouldn't suprise me. Hey, if you had your arm up i the air for 2 1/2 hours doing a 3 minute piece over and over, you'd be less than happy, too!

Yeah, we wouldn't want people calling other people horrible names like wisea$$ willy nilly, right?
My English teacher once said, "If you can't express yourself without swearing then you need to expand your lexicon." And I agrre with her. If you can't express yourself without using the world f*ck then you need to learn some more words, however worlds like ***** or h*ll don't really fall under the same category. If you want to day the devil lives in h*ll you should be able to on the forums. I mean what is so horrible if someone on the boards told some one to go to h*ll? Maybe *ss, *****, and h*ll should be unblocked and leave the really nasty words like f*ck, sh*t, c*nt, and so on blocked since those are just used to be vulgar.

I only understand half of what you are saying here, but I think we agree.

I think.

I personally try to avoid using even the euphemized d-word (also used for fixing socks) that Big Bird says in Journey to Ernie, but I don't mind hearing others say it.

Language has always been an issue with me but I tone it down around here. It's always best to be mindful of the type of audience or group you are speaking to. I had a boss once who swore all the time. Cool lady, but it turned me off and made me aware of my own behavior. I don't mind language, but it sure can be unattractive sometimes. But I certainly don't think the Muppets have had many language issues. "She's hot" and "that sux" are really not swears. H*** is a lesser sort of pseudo swear in my book. I know Kermit has used it and I don't really mind. D*** and any other 4-letter words I would mind coming from a Muppet. :stick_out_tongue:

I think we agree. My point was that some words like wisea$$ should be allowed through. And as far as big bird saying darn, I think that's something all children say. It's not a swaer at all. Even ***** isn't a swaer at all. If Big Bird said sh*t everytime he missed a box then yes that would be bad :stick_out_tongue: .

I do agree with Beaker though. Why do we care if a muppet ever said *****?

Anyone remember that SS skit from the mid 70s when Ernie kept pestering Bert, and Bert finally turned to him and said, “God Dam**it Ernie, stop being such an as…” but he was strategically cut short by the doorbell ringing. They never show that clip anymore, which is a shame because it was pretty funny.

I have to agree. I can't picture Bert swearing, but I was just listening to "Muppet Central Radio" where Link was singing a song with another guy and there was a line in the song that went "one he** of a man." Was that really on "The Muppet Show?" If it was, it would be hard to believe they'd allow that language.

By the way, Wiggy. I reread your last post and I agree with you completely.

If you can't express yourself without using the world f*ck then you need to learn some more words,
Some people in my dorm hall are like that. They keep saying that every other word. Sometimes I feel like coming out and strangling them.

Personally, I don't blame the censors for editing out swear words on this site.
