I wouldn't have put it that viciously... but yeah. Somehow I sense self-sabotage. Like they're burning their own shop for the insurance money. If they betray the movie, which I feel they're trying to stall so they don't have to spend a dime, I hope they do go completely bankrupt, and crying back to Disney. I'm sure they can put Harvey in the Goofy suit that someone puked in. not even at the theme park... at promotional photo shoots.

All I'm getting out of this company is this vibe

Seriously Henson Company... Find Someone Else for the sake of the movie and Jim's vision.

Okay, so I'm now caught up with the recent firestorm of Whinestein (or is that WhineStine?)
*Young Frankenstein reference, watch the movie.

Can't say I'm surprised. Years of watching wrestling has left me somewhat jaded to expect a jerk-type of move like this. I do hope that Corey can do some semblance of damage control whenever the script the higher-ups want ever gets delivered.

My other thought based on the comments here is... I almost think the Fraggles should do another bit like the highly sought Fraggles Search for Jobs from when the series ended, but this time they'd have signs with short messages about either JHC leaving the WS idiots or naming new movie companies to come and pick up the Fraggle franchise.

Oh well. *Rully peoples, we need the Boober *Sigh* smilie!

Mmmm, perhaps my comments were worded a bit strongly, and I apologize for that. But I stand behind the overall message.

I don't get it. I understand that executives have to view this as a business, and have to consider what will make them money. But whose to say what will make them money? The same old thing gets tired and old after a while. Just because it worked for X doesn't mean it will work for everyone. It's like the Ross and Rachel/ Sam and Diane thing. The "will they/won't they" storyline got pushed on everyone, but artists pushed back. The Fraggles don't work the same as Shrek or any other movie property. Most older cartoons lack the depth and character of Fraggle Rock, so it's easier to mess with them (though still frowned upon by many). The same cannot work here. There's only so far you can push the Fraggles out of their cave (so-to-speak) before they're no longer Fraggles.

We need a Don Music banging his head on a piano smilie in this case. Not so much for just us, but seems Corey's in that boat too... only, he'd say "They'll never get it! Never! Never!"

Seriously, there's only so much complaining even I can do. We need to either convince them to go ahead with the script we have now, or convince Henson to go completely to Lionsgate with this.

Can we contact Weinstein? Start a Fanboys-style petition? I'm game for writing letters.

*snort*

I came across this article about the whole problem, and it only made me angrier: http://veryaware.com/2010/06/why-is-fraggle-rock-delayed/

We were told over and over how hard they were going to work to keep everything authentic and real, now suddenly they want "edgy"? As one commenter on another forum said, "So what, is Red going to be doing drugs now?" Are we talking Shrek-like humor or what?

I still say the Smurf film is the reason. The Fraggles have enough edge. Convincin' John? Parody of televangelists. Whole show's about how goofy us humans behave, reflected in their odd little stories. They don't need to have one of those bad films with an all white cast with one character talking in 1990's rap slang to pretend to appeal to "ethnics." The script is fine as it is. It's been worked on for years now, and Slimestine has drug their feet long enough.

Really, we need to write letters or something. If we can't convince them otherwise, we can convince the Hensons to move out of this bad relationship. Lionsgate, man... Lionsgate!

Henson wants nothing more than to make this film. Look at all the prehype. Would they bother all this press for the comic if they didn't want to do the movie? They're even working on a CGI Doozers cartoon that's gonna air somewhere (CGI's are unfortunately the only things Henson can do on their own at the moment). Now all this "we need to alienate as many people as possible by making it hip and appeal to no one" sabotage.

Havey? Look in the mirror... YOU'RE EISNER NOW! just like how Steve Jobs has become Bill Gates, only infinitely worse!
