Wow, that's crazy! I wonder what it is about the puppetry that makes it seem so noticeably him.
Jerry often skips syllables when he moves the puppet's mouth. For example, if he had the Count to say "Welcome to my castle", the mouth might move on "Wel to castle". In a way, it also emphasizes Nelson's wonderful voice.

It also doesn't hurt if you've watched him on TV a couple hundred times, as I've seemed to have been doing. :boo: :sing:  :smirk: :zany:

I've come to believe that Frank was performing Little Jerry in "Mad", although, of course, it was Jerry's voice. It was something about how Frank manipulated in early AM's that was different from Jerry's. I also think that Jerry was manipulating Big Jeffy in that scene.
(This can be seen in Shalom Sesame's "Jerusalem")

(First post on this topic in over five years)

According to Muppet Wiki [page: Shark (Sesame Street)], Jim Henson performed the shark.

Dave also played a character in a Colambo sketch. It was in the "Missing Pig" sketch.

I'm not jumping to any conclusions, but yeah, I noticed Little Jerry's "snarl" at the end was similar to what Frank did with some AM's. (I think he did it with Lefty at the end of a bit with a STOP sign or something.)
