Ah, Commercialism... XP
I like Underdog, but was on the fence about the film...until Disney wore out its welcome with the blitz of non-stop ads everywhere. If only they'd give the Muppets 1/100th of this exposure. Underdog...I'll catch it on the Disney Channel next year. By then I might want to see it.
True, true. A lot of films are like this: fine and dandy until commercialism takes over, and this especially goes for animated or licensed movies. After all, kids like free stuff, and what better way to promote the movie than to make products based on it?
And it
does get annoying after a while (Pixar's
Cars is a good example of this.) And since Disney loves making tons of money, they most likely would--and probably had--start a line of movie-based merchandise.
Wish it were CG. Really do.
Now that you said it, it would be a good idea if they did that. It might make Underdog more recognizeable than his live-action beagle/bloodhound/designer dog/etc. form.
Off-topic: Speaking of Alvin and the Chipmunks, I saw a poster advertising the new live-action movie, and while I don't mind the guy (Dave?) being human, seeing the cute anthro-kids dress up all "hip-hop and urban" creeps me out...
Oh, and I'd like to see that new Bratz movie crash and burn.
