Some of you might remember that when Kermit was on Larry King, he said something about how he couldn't see how a frog and a pig could be together. And yet the Henson company has created a show for the Logos network that stars a homosexual puppet couple, who happen to be a bull and a pig.

So let's get this straight, so to speak...to the Henson people, a homosexual mixed-species couple is okay but a heterosexual mixed-species couple isn't?

Man, those people have, IMO, some weird sensibility issues...

Kermit said a frog and pig couldn't work together. He never said anything about a bull and a pig. That's entirely different.

Again this is a spoof on Hollywood. It's the brainchild of two straight guys, lol.

I've seen some criticism elsewhere of the writing. I actually thought the writing was ok, and very current for todays popular styles but i can see how people used to other Muppet stuff might think otherwise. A few things were a bit rough around the edges here and there, but what they achieved was brilliant. The jokes come across fairly well in the skits, the character relationships are there and work well, the human and outdoor interactions work extrememly well, and the puppetry is excellent.

You know, I've been thinking, with global warming and the loss of polar ice, it really isn't okay to toss Muppet penguins around. Arctitic penguins could be in serious jeoprardy in the very near future. It's wrong to suggest it is okay to do violence to an animal that could become endangered or lose its natural habitat. And what are children learning when they see animals tossed in the air? That it's okay to throw your friends around? I can't believe the Muppeteers can have been so insensitive.

Could we all get a grip? They're puppets.

Man, those people have, IMO, some weird sensibility issues...

First, the opinion expressed by Kermit do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the Jim Henson Company or the company's writers. Kermit can feel interspecies relationships are bad, but that doesn't prevent other people at the Henson Company from endorcing them - that's just the opinion of one frog. I think Gonzo would be okay with a Chicken and a Whatever getting together, and Pepe has pushed for Human/Prawn relations on occassion as well. Plus ask Miss Piggy if she could see a frog and a pig together and she'd say that's the only kind of relationship that does work. But I'm not sure the writters at Henson are against any and all interspecies relationships (as long as they are puppets).

Second, I don't think Kermit is totally against interspecies relationships eithre. I think he just goes on record making those kinds comments in hopes of being able to avoid (or at least cool off) one particular relationship. He's made a bunch of pig/frog statments in the past (check out his book "Before You Leap" and read up on the Amphibitarian party's platform). I think they are more to keep Piggy from taking things too fast.

Kermit has made many such remarks to try to keep Piggy at bay - he wants to keep things professional and slow things down a bit. I don't think Henson is being hypocritical - while it is possible Kermit would tell Samson that a relationship with a pig has bad news all over it, I don't think the Henson Company is adverse to the idea of mixing up the species. But despite Kermit's feelings that frogs and pigs don't mix, Bobby and Samson seem happy and in love, and really that's all that matters.

Yes, he did. And that applies to those who follow him. I am one of those people, and, yes, I often break the rules. Who hasn't lusted? Honestly...Christianity is about being forgiven for that. However, that's totally off the topic...My point is, if you are going to take offence at Samson bringing the car-wash guy over for a closer look...I hope you also don't watch FRIENDS, or even TMS. Piggy has often made her male co-stars come over where she be for a closer tete-e-tete.

Is it realy that much more offensive because it's gay? Not really...

As for penguins...heavens, no, they should never be thrown!

But to get back onto the show itself, I enjoyed the character introductions, with the words typed up on the screen They were funny, and whitty in a cute way. I think the son has a lot of potential. And I actually liked the ex-wife (X-wife? Sounds like she should have super powers...).

Well yes, but Christianity is also about not doing it again, hehe. But yes, I agree, forgiveness is extremely important.

I don't know much about the show so I can't comment yet. I don't object to the homosexual theme, that's ok with me. But I'm skeptical as to whether the humor is actually "edgy" or rather "immature."

I agree. It will take some time to see exactly where they're going. I've seen shows with good pilots crash and burn and ones with luke (no pun intended) warm beginnings rise to the challenge later on.

So now we know the characters, setting, premise etc. It's time for some comedy - both obvious and smart IMHO.

And on the Kermit front - well, Kermit says a lot of things! Just because he's a Muppet frog doesn't mean he's not human. Well...anyway. I remember his "porn is fine" comment on the Late Late Show years ago. It was in reference to Snoop Dog's cut appearance in the NBC Christmas special due to Dog's current work in some blue movies.

The gist of what the amphibian said was that Snoop could do whatever projects he wanted, but it's not the sort of thing the Muppets want to align their fuzzy selves with. But it came out as "porn is fine!" One too many grasshoppers in the greenroom?
