Its only because we've known robin as his nephew our whole lives.

Looking at it again, there is an unnamed female frog beside him, and then there is a male frog on the other side. Muppet Wiki says this male frog's name is Norman, yet there is no page for this character...
Hmmm... Maybe you're right. After all, we've never seen Robin's parents, so how do we know what they look like? That still doesn't explain why he spends so much time with Kermit. I'm not saying that's a bad thing. It's great that they're so close, but why do we only see Robin's parents (if that's who they are) in that one scene?
