I can play...a kazoo...and um. I had piano lessons for a year, then i quit. I was only eight so I mean...I prefered playing with my dolls. Errm, I have a Ukelele. I can play some three cords...and it's fun regardless if I can play it or not. We have a bongo drum that I annoy people with. Also...like shakers...I can shake them. Semi-in-time. Errrm, yeah. I always wished I had of learned an instrument when I was younger so I'd be good at it now. But I never did. Alas. My sister did though, she's brilliant, got her AMusA Diploma when she was 16. that was for Piano. Oh yeah, I tried to learn the Clarinet once, but I didn't practice enough because I was trying to teach myself. Lessons are too expensive.

Had trumpet lessons when i in in my early pre-early teens...in between my older brother having a hand-me-down trumpet and how i loved to listen to Lips jam on it, i figured i'd take it up...but after awhile my heart really wasn't in it.

So, instead i focused my energy on singing...i know that sometimes sounds cliche ("i don't play any instrument but i sing") but given the level of devotion i've put into it, i feel like i can toot my own horn as far as that goes (pun not inte...oh heck yeah it was), i've devoted myself totally to the craft, been trained, majored in both acting and vocal music in college, won awards, am able to do a lot of things others can't, huge multi-octive range...basically i'm the type who will tell you i'm horrible at everything there is to be horrible at but i will put modesty aside when it comes to Muppet love/knowledge and singing (so i've earned the right to say that i do that on the same level as playing an instrument)

I love singing but the last few years I have not been able to do it at all because my town has no sort of choir beyond the churches, and the one class we had we did not get to preform at all-.- My trouble is I can't sing out at all because I never got anyone to teach me that, so I only have what my last teacher called 'a nice little voice'.
But I have a good ear for notes and can tell when I'm off key etc so it is not like I couldn't get better if I just had somewhere to do it *sigh* :frown:

I don't think there is such a thing as earning the right to say it's an instrument though, the human voice is an instrument period IMHO, you should not have to be wonderful to be able to say that :stick_out_tongue:

OMG in my last choir class we had one man that sang flat and he never got any better because he could not hear that he was flat. It drove our teacher (and us) crazy :insatiable:!
So at least you can hear that you are flat, that means that there is hope if you ever want to learn to get better:excited:

Sorry ; have to ask. Can you Growl? or as wikipedia calls it "Cookie monster vocals". Cause that would be something that you could show off to people and impress them.
