Just read it, and I got a grin out of it, of course. He's really lucky that he got to watch Richard in action on the set; I think that's something that pretty much every Muppet fan's dreamed about at least a hundred times. If I'd been there, my stomach would probably be hurting from laughter.

Something else: look at the SST 40 event, and how they pretty much kept the audience howling with laughter the whole time. Can you imagine how much crazier the event would have been if Jim and Richard had been there in person?

Sorry I've been a little MIA, I've been diagnosed with the flu and only recently got the strength to leave my room. (No, not to get to my laptop. My laptop was IN my room the whole time and I still had no energy to use it!)

I did read Joe's interview and loved his comments on Richard (and appreciated his perspective on Muppets From Space).

I know! I'm reminded of the Muppet performers' interview with 60 Minutes. Clearly the editors of that piece knew to focus on Richard for his ability to steal the show. And perhaps Richard would have finally been able to give HIS side of the Elmo story, hehe.

Frank Oz was very prominent in the 60 Minutes piece as well (even being called "the greatest puppeteer in the world." But at the William Patterson event it did seem like Frank was uncomfortable being asked so many questions that he felt were more properly meant for Jim. I think that says a lot. He wanted to be respected for his contributions with the Muppets, but wasn't really out to take Jim's place. Obviously he'd much rather have Jim there.

Ugh...get well soon, okay, heralde? Drink lots of fluids - lots of soup and tea.

If Richard were alive and well today, and if he were able to attend the event, he'd be working the audience from the very beginning. I also wonder what puppet he'd have brought out with him?

And did you see that Marty was standing out on stage for a few minutes during the signing to talk to some fans - and then the security guards started nudging him backstage?

Something tells me that if Richard were there, he'd want to spend a long time chatting with the fans. The security guys would probably have to drag him backstage.

Thanks! Yeah that's what I've been doing, lots of Earl Grey and Wonton Soup (it's the only soup I really like lol).

Oh I didn't notice Marty was hanging around, that's really nice. It's a shame security has to be so careful these days (justifiably so, but still).

I know this isn't a Sesame Muppet but I always wanted to hear more about Richard's take on Janice, since it seems she took awhile to develop but then became such a unique character. :flirt:

Yeah, I spotted him while I was on line to get my book signed. He shook a few hands and signed a few books before the security guys moved in. It was the same with the Hunts; I would have loved to talk with Jane again, but the security guys started nudging them backstage, too.

And it's true...the event was aimed at SS, but maybe Richard would have gone into more detail about Scooter and Janice and Beaker and the others. On a related note, which puppet would Jim have brought along? Maybe Kermit, or Guy Smiley?

How's the flu doing, by the way? I was feeling a little feverish and woozy myself this afternoon, but I think it was just a case of stopped-up sinuses. You know how it is.

If you're still unwell, let me offer you a virtual cup of tea and a bowl of just-made miso soup - that's what I had for dinner here tonight.

Oh ok, yeah I remember the Hunt family leaving, that makes sense.

If it was going to be a SS Muppet, I think I'd like to have delved deeper into Don Music's psyche, lol. I guess Jim would have brought Kermit, I would have loved his doing Ernie and Bert with Frank, how classic would that have been? For that matter to have Jerry and Richard ad-libbing the Two Headed Monster, hehe (too bad we don't have a smiley for them!...or him, hehe)

Oh dear hope it doesn't get worse! Ugh, I hate sinuses, lol.

I'm feeling a little better, just slightly run down, thanks. And warm regards for the soup and tea!

Let's see, Violet Crumble...well, not too far from where I live, there's a shop that specializes in British foods - especially tea and sweets. I know Violet Crumble's an Australian import, but they might have it.
Barring that, there's probably a place in New York that carries it - want me to check for you?
Yes if you could Id greatly appreciate it Erin. I see to get a few from time to time. But they haven't carried them in over 6 months! They are my favorite candy bar. Thanks so much in advance.

I don't really have a favorite, just whatever excites me at that moment, though I'm sort of glad the Cadbury eggs are showing up in stores already! :flirt:
