Giving does help - after all, remember the song "Pass it On."

Speaking of putting the holidays in perspective, they showed "A Charlie Brown Christmas" again on ABC tonight, so of course I had to catch it. To fill out the rest of the hour, they also showed that grouping of more recent Christmas-related Peanuts clips. Good times.

Hmm, looking around at all the holiday stress that everyone's going through, I think one chorus of "The Peace Carol" is in order. Either that or "It's in Every One of Us."

"When you're giving love away, love will come again to stay. And what you give is what you gain when you pass it on!" :excited:

You know for the past few years, Charlie Brown has really been my hero at Christmas. I think we all identify with his melancholy look at the very beginning of the show and his confession of "I think there must be something wrong with me, Linus. Christmas is coming, but I'm not happy. I don't feel the way I'm supposed to feel." And then we're all very moved when he regains his holiday spirit, thanks to Linus' reminder of the true meaning of Christmas and his friends' generosity towards a little tree that needs a little love.

Indeed! The perfect Christmas songs that focus on the theme of hope.

Well, I see everyone's weighing in on the Muppet Christmas special on NBC.

For me, it was a real thrill to see Scooter back at last. After hearing only Richard performing Scooter, it was a little weird (good weird, that is) to hear David Rudman's take on Scooter. He's got a higher-pitched voice, but he's managed to really capture the eager-to-please personality. It's like I said on the other thread; it's probably a result of having worked with, and gone hiking in the Andes with, Richard for all those years.

But like I said, it's a thrill to see Scooter in a new production again.

I do think he did a good job. In the past, Scooter's just been in the back ground, saying very little or nothing at all. The Scooter is VMMC had some good lines but a little too updated for me. The Scooter is MWoO had a spot on perfect voice and personality, but none of the characters were really playing themselves. With the special tonight, Scooter had the appropriate attitude toward Kermit and even did the classic "That's great!" arm gesture, hehe. I think David captured the enthusiasm and youthfulness very well.

BTW: Sara... How come you no longer have an avatar? Is okay if you choose not to have one, just wondering, as it makes things easier when wanting to find your profile page. Oh well. :smirk:
Eh, it's easier then trying to pick and choose a perfect icon for myself. I might break down and put another one up however. I'll just have to think about it.

--------------

Nostalgic alert!

My brain can finally rest one of it's weary and oft-traveled roads. I finally know EXACTLY what game I used to play when I was little! I had kept the game up until I was like...7 or 8 years old actually. (I was a little developmentally behind, so I really relied on educational games and such to help me.)

The game I had, as I had remembered, had a Big Bird statue on a "rope" of some sort. And when I pressed Big Bird to a card of some sort, he would either say something ( so I thought) or a red light would come up. I didn't remember much about the game, except it did have different "panels" or "cards". It's sketchy, this detailing of my memory, as I didn't really know just what it was!

But I now know, it was the 1986 Milton-Bradley Sesame Street Letters and Numbers Light and Learn!

The "cord" was infact a covered wire, which connected to the main circuit board, which had sensors to detect when the correct letter/number was pressed. I do not believe Big Bird talked, but I am not sure on that matter. Unfortunately the game has since died a long time ago, and my Mother made me get rid of it, as it no longer worked (and she didn't know how to repair/replace the batteries. If that was even possible.) The "panels" or "cards" were the replaceable cards that contained the aforementioned letters and/or numbers. And the Big Bird "statue" was infact the actual "stylus" of the game.

Wow...thank you Muppet Wiki. I wonder what else this little brain of mine has locked away that it can open up and answer?

Gosh, I'm 22...and I wish I still had that game. Off to eBay to see if I can perhaps get one for myself. If it's even still around.

My brother was playing this Sesame Street video game just yesterday for PC. The name of it slips me right now, but it was a Grover the Waiter game and he had to get Fat Blues order right. It's funny because it you get his order wrong then you have to take it back. But there isn't a dumpster out back... There his only Cookie Monster in the back or Charley's. He is like there personal dumpster, lol! :insatiable:

I remember a few computer games from years ago, made for Apple IIe. There was Astro Grover (later remade for Nintendo), some game with Ernie and shapes (ditto), some mix-and-match game starring Cookie Monster, and there was a layer cake game where you had to stack the layers in the right order.

It looks like the Muppet special had the highest ratings of any show on NBC last night, so I guess it's clear that Muppets have still got it.

Yeah, I know and that's so great, The only think I regret is not being able to watch on TV. Would have loved to support it that way.

Yeah, well...it'll probably be re-aired in some form or other fairly soon. I mean, the ratings showed that there are enough Muppet fans, both original and new, to merit a Muppet project.

How's the weather where you guys are? I live in one of the areas that really got hit by this big winter storm; there's at least six inches here and the roads are a mess. I love snow, you know...just not when I have to drive in it.

Come to think of it, it's not the snow that worries me...it's some of the people who go driving in it: people who don't seem to be familiar with the term "defensive driving."

That's good that the special got good ratings! I still think it was too watered down, hehe. But hopefully it will help attract new audiences.

Snowing pretty bad today, pretty much had to stay indoors except for taking my puppy for a walk. He was born in the Summer and this is his first snowfall! He was eating the snow for awhile, but now he seems used to it, hehe.
