This is definitely a time of my life when I need to take that lesson to heart. When it comes down to it, more will get down in life if you take the chance on believing in yourself.

Me too...although my outlook on life is generally positive these days, I sometimes tend to look at things in a bad light.

It's interesting; initially, the only people who heard Richard's speeches and found comfort in them were the people at Jim's memorial...but we, even though we didn't get to go to the memorial, have gotten to hear the speeches as well. I know I've asked this before, but I wonder if Richard would have guessed that 18 years after the memorial, people would be using his speeches as a source of comfort?

Speaking of, I'm going to St. John the Divine for 15 minutes on Saturday to see Philippe Petit (the wirewalker who crossed the WTC towers in 1974) (a very long way to go for 15 minutes, but he told me about it personally ).

Anyway last time I was there by accident and didn't know for sure that it was Jim's memorial until the bus pulled away, and didn't know that it was Richard's until I got home. So it should be interesting.

Yeah so it's kind of weird they're hosting this big art thing there (and even weirder they're only giving Philippe 15 minutes...) even though it's under construction. But from what I remember, the actual church place (technical term forgotten) is very beautiful and it's really just the hallways and side rooms that are under construction.

Hmm interesting...Well from what I've read in history texts, the St. John the Divine Cathedral was partially built so large as sort of a competition with St. Patrick's Cathedral, which is also quite large and amazing.

(Personally I think there's too much emphasis on how Churches look, hehe. I mean I'm all for stain glass windows and statues, that's art. And both Cathedrals really are wonderful places to visit. But there are more crucial issues, hehe.)

Sorry, hehe. It's great that you get to go. And that's cool about the wirewalker, I'd never heard of that. It would be interesting to hear his perspective on the towers.

That is so true Erin! It is important to remember in life that sometimes you just have to not hold on to pain or bitter feelings and to simply just let go. *wishes he could make a butterfly smilie.*

I'd have to look up the history, but it's interesting to ponder whether St. Patrick's and St. John's were built in competition. And they are both very grand-looking churches, with great acoustics.
