Thanks! Yeah hopefully the pet thing will work out.

Oh yeah sometimes I have fun when writing, it's just a matter of actually sitting down and doing it. lol

Also not feeling well at the moment, I have the worst stomach ache! Right now Lambie's keeping me company, hehe.

You know? I feel the exact same way because I am one who always has a hard time getting started doing anything. You have to drag me out of bed and I have to get into the mood in order to really want to do or start anything. But ones I start I usually end up having a ball. It's like I can start out taking a bad attitude towards doing something and then I end up really loving it after I start doing it. But yeah, it can really take me a while to get to sitting down and doing it because I'll think about how much work it's going to be and how long it will take all all theses things. Especially tedious things.

Sorry you aren't feeling well:sympathy: , but it's good you have comfort to get you through it!

Thanks, I am feeling a little better today. Just have to take it easy, lol.

Just an FYI, for the RHLC, regarding the latest MC!

...Heh, that is, just a helpful bit of information, for the members of this here thread, in regards to the most recent Muppetcast, hehe. Kevin Clash was interviewed again, and once again he was generous enough to share some Richard comments. I think what he said made a lot of sense and was rather telling.

Ooh, I'll have to have a listen to that when I get back. What'd Kevin say about Richard this time, heralde?

(thing is, I'm out of town at the moment - and I'm typing this from the computer in the lobby of the hotel where we're staying)

And hope the pet search goes well!

Oh well...if you insist...I suppose I could force myself, hehe.

Well you might remember in the Richard podcast, Kevin mentioned how Richard didn't seem to want anyone to know just how much he loved the Muppets. This time around, Kevin speculated that this was because Richard cultivated this sort of hip, cool personality and so I guess didn't always want to admit out loud if something was important to him. However, those closest to him knew "this was his life, he loved it, loved it, loved it dearly. And he gave all of us so much of himself...to a fault sometimes!"

I'm sort of reminded of the Fraggle Rock episode, "Gunge the Great and Glorious." (Which I will now try to quickly summarize lol)

Philo: There are more important things in life than being a king.

Gunge: Oh yeah like what? Come on, come on, tell me, what? !

Philo: Like us bein pals!

Gunge: Oh, gag me with a twig!

(About five hours later, hehe)

Gunge: Boy, I sure was wrong about how great it would be to be king. It wasn't fun at all.

Marjory: Didn't you enjoy being the center of attention?

Gunge: Nah, it wasn't real. I mean, the Doozers loved me cause I was the king, not cause I was me.

Marjory: That's a very wise observation.

Gunge: The only one who ever loved me for me was Philo. And now he's gone...ohhh...I can't believe how much I miss him! I feel like half a rat.

Marjory: You know that's exactly how Philo felt when you were gone.

Gunge: It is? You mean he missed me this much?

Marjory: He certainly did.

Gunge: Oh, then I gotta go find him and tell him how I feel! If I'm lucky he just might forgive me!

Marjory: Hmm...he just might, Gungey.

(Moments later lol)

Gunge: I don't know how I coulda thought bein king was more important than...you.

Philo: Really? You know, Gunge, you're the greatest.

Gunge: No, no, no Philo...you're the greatest. (Anyone who hasn't seen this episode, that was not just some throw away line there. Wow, the emotion. You actually feel like you're intruding on a private moment.)

Philo: Nah, nah, nah you are the greatest!

Gunge: No, I said it and I'll stand by it, you're the greatest.

Philo: Gunge, this is from the heart, I mean it, you are the greatest!

Gunge: NO, PHILO, YOU ARE THE GREATEST!

Philo: Gunge, it is you, you are the greatest!

Gunge: ::nods:: You're right...::walks off::

Philo:........Gunge! ! ! Lol

Quick detour, Kevin also said his favorite Sesame Street Muppet was Grover; which made me SO happy because I have always adored Grover, lol.

Oh cool, I actually always love staying in hotels, lol. Hope you have a good time!

And hope the pet search goes well!
Thanks, fingers crossed! :insatiable:

Hi, gang, I'm back...time to bump the thread up, I see.

We came home late last night - not to induce jealousy or anything, but we spent the week down in the Virgin Islands (U.S. as opposed to British). We went snorkeling, hiking, exploring and parasailing. (yes, you read that last one correctly)

Yeah, Richard downplaying his passion for being a Muppet performer - in a vain attempt to be modest. Nice try, Richie.

Sounds so awesome Erin! Hope you had a lot of fun!:super:

Yeah, Richard did not easily fool anyone about modesty, hehe!

But in the interview, Kevin said something about how all the muppeteers were encourages to ab lib. I remember seeing this scene with Gordon and Susan where looking after miles and Forgetful Jones said some throw away line and they started falling apart with laughter and it stayed in the take that went on the air. But anyway, they were trying to stay together but you could tell they were laughing as if he threw them and and had not made that remark eariler in the run through or rehearsal. Maybe he said something else before, but this this he said something they weren't expecting or did not see coming. It's like it was just so spontaneous and out of the blue. They are are so good and that and Richard does that so much and I'm sure nobody does it like Richard did! You can see his influence throughout everything to this day!

I was going to say something about Steve but this isn't his thread.

I think I know what scene you're talking about, lol. I did hear the writers of Sesame Street say once that the puppeteers pretty much stuck to the script, but then would throw in their own little touches every now and then. Forgetful Jones especially provided great opportunities for that. I think that's where he humor really lies, not just that he's forgetful, but the actual mistakes he makes when forgetting. Like calling Kermit, "McDermit" etc, Lol. That's what I get out of Richard's characters on Sesame Street. They are just so silly and crazy, most people wouldn't choose to go that far, but he would and that's why it works.

Oh, I finally got to see the Muppets appearance on the Tonight Show again! One of the best parts, Leo Sayer does his musical number, and then goes to sit down with Kermit and Scooter. Scooter says to Kermit, "Oh, another young person!" (Apparently they felt the need to explain why Scooter was in this particular segment, lol).

Kermit says "Oh yes, Leo, you remember Scooter."

Leo: Oh yeah, I remember all these guys from The Muppet Show! Scooter and I spent the whole time doing Cockey Rhyming slang, didn't we?

Scooter: You better believe it! Cherry hog, that's dog! Bowl of chalk, that's a walk!

Leo explains the concept of Rhyming slang and then does the following exchange with Scooter. The way the conversation goes, it feels to me that it's more Leo and the puppeteer beneath Scooter that are doing the remembering.

Leo: So for instance, I'd say to Scooter, "I love the Irish!"

Scooter: Oh, Irish jig that's...that's a wig! But wait, wait...

Leo: But then he'll say back to me...

Scooter: That's my barnet fair, that's my hair!

Scooter then briefly discusses the strange sandwiches to be found in England, "jelly dales...yuch!" Lol

Leo discusses the different words Americans and the English have for things, like they could rewrite that old song, "You say astro turf, and I say plastic grass!"

Scooter replies, "That's right, that's right!

Kermit asks Leo how he likes living in America and he says he actually only lives in America half the year. Scooter tries to imitate Leo's pronounciation of "half" and says to Kermit, "it doesn't sound right does it?" They end up saying Leo spends "half (American accent) the time here and half (English) there!"

Leo recalls getting blown up on The Muppet Show. Scooter intejects, "Yeah, falling down...sorry about that..." (very cute lol).

Kermit asks Leo what it's like to have millions of girls chasing him. Scooter hungrily replies, "Oh yeah I'd like that!"

They discuss what to do about chasing girls and Scooter comes up with his jem, "I put a bag that a blender came in over my head!" (This got a big laugh from the audience lol)

Kermit: For what?

Scooter: To hide from the girls!

Kermit: What girls?

Scooter: Uh...the ones that don't chase me...

Kermit: Yeah... (Lol)

Leo asks Kermit about his relationship with Piggy, to which Scooter helpfully comments, "Oh Kermit and Piggy are getting married ya know!" Kermit is horrified, but the crowd goes crazy!

Leo: Oh great! It's really takes bravey to announce it on TV like this, Kermit!

Scooter: It sure does!

Kermit: ::whimpers:: (Lol)

Finally Leo gets up to sing a truly lovely rendition of "When I Need You" with Miss Piggy. Of course they eventually change the words to "When I Need Moi" which is priceless, lol. Leo Sayer's songs are great and he came across very young and energetic and likeable when talking with the Muppets.

(chuckle) Oh, Richard must have had a lot of fun doing the rhyming slang bit. Wonder if he and Leo did a lot of that behind the cameras when Leo appeared on TMS?

But I wonder if Scooter was bribed by Miss Piggy to announce that she and Kermit were getting married...

In other news, we just brought our new cherry hog home yesterday, took her for a bowl of chalk around the yard...and she's driving our other cherry hog completely sixes and sevens.
