On the Your Face! site, Marty Robinson talked about how if a guest star showed some kind of superior attitude on the set of Sesame Street, he could be brutal to them, or cut them down to size so their ego wouldn't take up the set, so to speak.
Well, it would really depend on the situation, which we don't know much about obviously. We know Richard could be very blunt when he wanted to, even if it hurt. And perhaps there was the occasional guest star who thought they were too good to be on a kid's show. I wonder if that's where Jim got the idea of Rita and Del's volatile relationship on Puppetman!
Oh, I've had to deal with bullies throughout my entire childhood. And it still happens today sometimes, though much less. There will always be some people who make it their life's work to ruin someone else's life. Probably because of some insecurity in their own life, but it's obviously not an excuse. We all have our problems, we don't make them better by hurting others.
But anyway, I still struggle with how to deal with bullies. Ultimately the most important thing is learning to develop a thick skin. You have to be able to not let a bully ruin your day by making you miserable. You have to be able to shrug it off to a certain extent, and continue to be happy, despite the problems. It's hard, it's so incredibly hard, but in the end, it's more healthy and beneficial to you.
Also, it's good to ultimately be kind to people, even when they hurt you. You may not always get it in return, but you should still try. And who knows, sometimes it will work.
