I had to give an oral presentation this morning in my class on Russian literature. I was feeling extremely nervous...but then I scribbled "Shut up and go for it!" at the top of my notes and I started to feel a little better.
Hey, it worked for me!

How was the presentation? I always get nervous when I have to give those.

With me and speeches, sometimes it's great, other times not. I just mainly need to remind myself that getting too nervous will only be a hinderance. And you'll just regret it later on.

BeakerSqueedom, while I love Kermit/Piggy, I am kinda intrigued by a Piggy/Scooter pairing! I guess mainly because I've never heard of it before. Of course, it's not that much of a stretch. Richard has played both characters in the past! Hey, now I'm getting a few interesting ideas! Hehe

Oh, yes, a Piggy/Scooter pairing - more like a Piggy's fist/Scooter's face pairing from time to time, if you ask me.

The presentation went okay enough, I suppose. Prof says I need to fine-tune my thesis statement a little bit, but she approved of the research I've done. But the thing is, I hate oral presentations - I'm a lousy public speaker and I always break out in a cold sweat beforehand.

For the record, my talk and my final paper are on "The Gambler," by Dostoevsky. I'm going to examine how the main character's gambling addiction is an outlet for certain other deep-rooted urges.

Was watching the bonus features disc of FR3 a little bit ago - I was watching the segment on electro-mechanical puppetry, and toward the end as they're talking about the collaboration between puppeteers and full-body performers (re: the Gorgs), there's a still shot of Junior Gorg standing in front of the castle, and Richard Hunt and Rob Mills are standing on either side of him, gleefully mugging for the camera.

Looks as if the photo was one of many taken when they did interviews for "Down at Fraggle Rock."

Speaking of Piggy and Richard characters, I always wish they would have paired Piggy and Janice more, since they were the two female characters and yet very different. Obviously Janice is much more laid back and certainly her relationship with her man is a little more peaceful, lol. Piggy could learn a thing or two from Janice I think! Though, to be honest, I think Janice could learn from Piggy as well. Sometimes she's just a little too deferential to Floyd, in my opinion, hehe. :flirt:

Well good I'm glad your research was approved! Yeah not too many people enjoy having to speak in public. I think it's good to take classes or read books on the subject, in order to train ourselves better.

Cool, I haven't read "The Gambler" but Dostoevsky is definitely classic. Your idea sounds interesting. And it's true people often do things because of deeper hidden issues.

Lol, that's so weird, I was watching that today too! Oh yes, I love that photo. The three of them look like the best of buddies, hehe. It must be from the same day as that group Gorg photo in The Works (since they're wearing the same clothes).

I know, don't they? It's a look behind the scenes with the Fraggles, Doozers and Gorgs - and the Silly Creatures who love them. And in that photo, Richard and Rob are certainly living up to their status as Silly Creatures.

True - Richard had on that same brown sweater in the Works photo, and during his spot on "Down at Fraggle Rock." It must have been a day for photo/video shoots or something.

Life is so amazing, hmm?

I'll admit, yesterday (I) was quite a wreck.
I had to go up to read a little something as well.
I randomly cracked.
Crumpled like an old coat (mentally).
My occasional cave-in.

It was so hard to stand.
I was not sure on what was happening.
Stress really got to me.

After class ended...I clinged to Miss Constance and just wailed.
I don't usually degrade myself this way.
But, school is like a timed bomb-- just about ready to explode on you.
Especially when you've a hard time cooperating with older students.
I mean, they are not bad at all. I'm just so strange...I tend to get looks.
No, I don't dress like the typical goth nor do I give them the lazy eye when I'm bored. I just view things oddly.

Anyway, my point is...it is natural to be under stress at times. Just you wait, in a few years (each varies) we're gonna be big shots in the world ...then we'll laugh about it. As we make waffles...we'll remember how flaky the crust was....until we make it to the soft chewy center.

*Smiles goofily*

Wait, that did not come out the way I wanted. :/
Shame on me for my random humor! Heh.
That made me hungry...but I never eat after 6:00.
LOL!

---

You know, Heralde...
I was shocked on your reaction to my pairing.
It does seem a little interesting...a little strange.
But at the same time...fun.

Poor Scooter.
I'm puttin' him through some major torture, eh?
I keep forgetting Richard did play Piggy at one time.

Yeah, I myself wished Janice and Piggy interacted more on the Muppetshow.
I could imagine them having a conversation about their hubbies.
:stick_out_tongue:

Richard's voice for Janice was/is adorable. LOL

Lol, you definitely have a quirky sense of humor, which is awesome. And you're right, some day we'll end up running things!

And definitely it's perfectly normal to get nervous over a speech. You just have to practice and try out different techniques that work for you and it gradually gets easier. I actually don't enjoy standing during presentations. I remember trying to do a speech standing once and that just made it worse. I didn't know what to do with my body and kept pacing around. Fortunately my teacher liked me and allowed me to sit down, lol. From then on it was much better.

And sometimes you can work nervousness to your advantage. One time my voice cracked during a presentation. So I laughed a little and said, "Sorry, just a bit nervous!" Everyone laughed with me and that definitely helped.

Really, shocked? Why? Just wondering

I for one have always believed that Kermit and Piggy did indeed tie the not! I don't know for certain if Floyd and Janice did. But of course, I'd like to think they went on to have groovy children with red air, purplish skin and big lips, lol.

I remember the scene in MTM when Janice is talking about not taking her clothes off for anyone, and Piggy politely interrupts to get the gang's attention. That's probably one of the only times they ever interacted, brief though it may be, lol. Though at least you could tell they were friendly. I always find it interesting how on The Muppet Show the gang was always a little caustic to each other, while in the movies they're the best of friends. Hehe

Richard's voice for Janice was/is adorable. LOL
Oh absolutely! It's only now when I look back that I realize how much I enjoyed listening to her talk as a child, lol. It just seemed very different and unusual (probably because it was a guy doing a girl's voice lol). MTM has always been my favorite Muppet movie and especially her lines, "Oh Gonzo, like that's a really lame idea!" :flirt: :concern:

Also, one of my favorite parts of Muppets Go to the Movies was Janice singing "Act Naturally" with Floyd (followed by them kissing hehe). Ironically, my two favorite moments from that special came from Richard and I had no idea until years later.

Wow, this is a MONSTER post! Though, that's not unusual for this thread! lol

Dude, if you went any further, you might have created a novel!
Wocka wocka?

I'm joking. It was fun to sneak-read your post. It was enjoyable and I had to hold back some giggles. Still do...or the Professor would hang me by my tippy toes. That'd sure be painful. O_O Or possibly throw back his head as he cackles wildly...ah, mad teachers. I'm foolin' with yah.

Nervousness never allies itself with me, it goes the opposite direction. One time, I was singing for some event. I was running smoothly, until I heard some people whisper some things about me (I have real good ears). None of them bad! They were very uplifting compliments. Egoism knocked at my door...gosh darn it. As soon as I allowed myself to feel like queen of the world. My knees got wobbly, sending me to the floor. I collapsed--in panic I decided to walk off the stage. XD While doin' that, I fell over a step and landed on my face.

I feel that nervousness is what keeps me humble.
Humility is a must for me.

Phobia with men helps me none.

---

I am not sure meself.
I guess I tend to mentally assume things before they happen.
I have an odd tendency to predict things correctly...this isn't ego talking.

Well, this time I didn't. Heeeheeee!
I am trying to stop assuming things.
I get in trouble sometimes.
I'm glad you found the pairing pretty cool.
XD That gave me relief.

Usually, peeps would react in such a hostile manner.
Based on my past experiences in another forum.
This isn't that forum though...
so I suppose I shouldn't associate this with that.
I wouldn't want to end up like Aristotle's questionable theory of:
A=A A=B

I don't remember it.
I tend to forget things that have no use to me.
@_@ LOL!

I think Janice and Floyd did tie the knot.
There are many clues!

When Piggy/Kermit married in MTM, the musical two gazed at eachother, as if contemplating happily about a potential marriage. Floyd defends his lover when Gonzo kind of bites out at her with his words in the movie. In TMS they were always nicknaming each other:

"Honeybunch"
"Baby"

Er...

Ok, my memory is creating quite a lag. O_O

---

I loved hearing Richard play Janice as a kid, too.
I never suspected she was played by a man at that time.
I was a little babe.

Awww.

Hey, Claudia, if you'd like to trade places with me - I'll deal with the mad teachers and the nervousness and you'll can have the obscene amount of end-of-semester work I've got - just let me know.

But seriously, all these term papers I have to do are giving me an extremely sore neck and upper back.

Took a break from all things academic during the afternoon to watch FR3 disc 5 again, the bit with the waldo puppetry (and the photo of Richard, Rob and Junior).

Oh, really, Erin? Trade?
That really is very kind of you.
Here, I think you'll need this, sweetie-pie.
*Drags boxes of work over to Erin*

Make sure my work is written on neatly.
Do not doodle over it if you find yourself bored out of your mind.
Do not write in a bubbly fashion, they'll know it's someone else...

I'm kidding.

Yes, take a small breather.
Watch some Richard Hunt clips...
Drink strong coffee to keep you up..(Yes, I drink coffee...I do not sleep well and am always under stress)
...and make waffles.

:stick_out_tongue:

All I do to relax after doing reports, essays, expeditions, working at mall ect.
Is do a little cleaning then, sit down and watch my Muppet movies.

:stick_out_tongue:

And repeat all Richard Hunt parts.
xD

Well, you needn't fret about the handwriting - mine is anything but bubbly; it's very angular and quickly fills up the paper. But my neck's feeling better - I called the studies to a halt for an hour and went to watch the tube in the common room downstairs.

I'll pass on the coffee, since I'm more of a tea drinker. But as to repeating all the sections that have Richard Hunt in them - I'm hip to that.
