Oh Sara, sweetie, how can you call that creepy? Maybe a little strange... but I think it's really sweet and romantic. That's the kind of dream I wish I could have about him.

God, Sara, you're so lucky. I know, I know, that's basically all I say anymore. This would be the tenth time. But you really are lucky that he talks to you. Richard either talks very un-Richardy (i.e. Stop being crazy) or doesn't say anything. *Loud prolonged sigh as if a big hint to Richard*

That was a nice tribute, Skye!

This Muppet Show clip was recently posted on youtube.com, from the Sandy Duncan episode where she makes Sweetums feel better about himself. I love this sketch, you really feel bad for Sweetums!

One of the major themes of the Muppets is that "ugly" can be "beautiful" and just because someone seems scary doesn't always mean you need to be afraid.

(is hiding in the bushes, watching Sara and Richard gazing up at the moon)

I think a little mood music is in order for those two. (brings out a record player and a stack of LPs, selects one and puts it on the player. The player starts blaring out "Flight of the Valkyries.") Whoops! Wrong one! (hastily lifts needle, removes record and replaces it with another one. Record starts playing "Clair de Lune.") That's more like it.

You've got a pretty vivid memory, Sara. I suppose that that dream happened in the early morning hours or something, 'cause that's when you're most likely to have dreams and remember them. And that was a real nice one.

Aw, thanks, heralde. I'm glad you liked it!

Speaking of liking stuff, that is a really great clip with Sweetums and Sandy Duncan. I wasn't too big on her episode as a whole, but that's one of the sketches I really like. I did feel bad for Sweetums! It is really cute.

Lol, yeah sorry about that! Glad you guys liked it. It's so weird, I just borrowed The Muppet Show Season 1 DVD from a friend last night and got to see that sketch for the first time (I'd been trying to see it for awhile). Then I go online today and suddenly it's on youtube! Divine intervention? ::shrugs::

Slightly different subject: you know how Jim and Richard (with Kermit and Scooter) co-presented an award at the Oscars back in the mid-80s, right?

Thought you'd like to know: it was 1986, the 58th annual Academy Awards, and the two (four) of them presented the award for Best Animated Short Film. The winner was Dutch filmmaker Cilia van Dijk, for her film 'Anna and Bella.'
At the same ceremony, it looks like Jim and Richard had Statler and Waldorf with them as well, providing running commentary.

Thought you guys would like to know...and by the way, in that photo of them in MC's Articles section, I thought Richard looked right dashing in a tuxedo (same goes for Scooter). :flirt:

Yes, I got to see Kermit and Scooter at the 1986 Oscars at The Museum of TV and Radio recently. It was really cute. And yes, they all do look dashing in tuxedos.

SPOILERS

Kermit gives a speech about how animated characters can do anything (as opposed to real people). Then when the time comes to announce the winner, Scooter realizes he can't open the envelope! (You know, cause his hands don't work that way!). Kermit gets all flustered saying, "I just got done saying animated characters like us can do anything!"

They cut quickly to Statler and Waldorf in the audience (I think they wonder why these technical problems weren't fixed earlier!), and then back to the stage where now Jim Henson has replaced Kermit and opens the envelope. Jim briefly sounds like Kermit as speaks so he clears his throat and says, "Sorry, I had a frog in my throat!" Scooter laughs at that and Jim says, "I haven't done that one yet!"

Unfortunately, Richard didn't appear in that bit, probably they figured no one would know who he was, unlike Jim. Still, it's nice to see Scooter listening to the winner's acceptance speech. It keeps the Muppet magic of the moment.
