Heh, inexcusable indeed!

Oh, that's awesome... well, Happy 59th Birthday, James Taylor! Funny, I guess for some reason, I figured he'd be a little older than that.

You know... That sets me to thinking, Richard's metabolism up where he's currently living. There was this movie I saw once, don't know the title... But it was about this guy who was standing trial in the afterlife, having his mortal life judged on its merits and pitfalls to determine his final lot. And since it was like a trial, it was taking place over an indeterminate timespan, but you could tell when they segwayed on to what could be called the next day.

Reason why I'm bringing this up... I remember there was this scene in the movie, in one of the in-between nights/moments before going on to what would be the next day of the trial, where the main character was in a fancy restaurant. He ate a big meal and wanted to order pie for dessert, but couldn't decide which. And then someone else told him that he could anything and everything he wanted, as nary an ounce would be gained, so the main character walked out back to where he was staying during the proceedings with like a stack of a dozen dessert pies.

Hey Richard, save me some Boston Screams! I'll send you some of my mom's carrot cake with cream cheese icing later!

(chuckle) Love comes to Koozebane...or at least, love thrives on Koozebane.

(Richard flies in and settles down on his cloud overhead)

R: What a night...
MN: Did you fly in and visit James?
R: Yes I did...but on the way down I caught some idiot trying to break into Beaker's Breakers.
MN: As you are the former deed holder, I hope you did something about it.
R: Yeah, gave him the shock of his life...you know, the ghosts of deceased relatives make for really good burglar alarms.
MN: Heh, heh, serves him right...so you dropped in on the Taylor house; were they surprised to see you?
R: No, they asked how I was doing, we chatted for a bit, had a few drinks...
MN: I didn't know ghosts could drink.
R: Oh, come on, they do serve spirits there, you know.

(collective groan at horrible joke)

R: Well, it's getting late. I need to be up early tomorrow; Jim and I have a new double act up here.
MN: Yeah, and I've got classes.

(specter and scribe bid each other good night and head off to respective quarters)

Hey... Wait up!
*Tries to get package to Erin so she can hand it over to Richard. Like promised... A piece of my mom's carrot cake with cream cheese icing. This one's marked R for Richard. And there's another box marked J for Jim with some lemon bar squares. Take it easy Richard... Heard you have competition up there with another Richard recently joining the ranks.

MN: (whistles) Richard, come back here, got you and Jim something from the mortal world!
R: (reappearing) Let me see...oh, man, carrot cake with cream cheese icing.
MN: Yeah, and this is for Jim. Lemon bars.
R: Excellent...thanks a lot, Ed...and yes, we heard about the other Richard. That was a really messy way to go...and he still had a few laughs in him, so that was kind of a waste.
MN: Too right.
R: Yeah, well, we're going easy on him for a bit. (looks down at cake) This will be my midnight snack tonight, and I'll take the bars off to Jim. (flies off, delivers lemon bars to Jim's cloud, returns to his cloud, curls up under a blanket and starts to eat the cake.

MN: (chuckle) Sweet dreams, one and all.

Yeah... Really sad to hear about the Platypus Man dying like that.
Glad they liked their desserts... Just have to satisfy that sweettooth sometimes.
*Leaves humming some Muppet tune or other.
