Oh yes, finally! Lol, I was just thinking the other day I hope omeone posts a photo of that episode. Yeah I might not have recognized him at first either, that's awesome, he looks so adorable, lol. Thanks for letting us know, MN.

I think one of the first things we discussed on this thread was that episode so, it's nice to come full circle.

I remember in Emmy's description, Richard is described as wearing a suit "that looks like he stole it off an English professor." Nice description...also like the Sherlock Holmes-style deerstalker.

'Course, around here a lot of the English profs wear sweaters and jeans during class...and the biology profs often have a yen for Hawaiian print shirts (and the entire lobby of the bio building is decorated with pink flamingos and fake palm trees).

Oh my gosh! Thanks for pointing that picture out, Erin, and thanks for posting the link, heralde!

I never would've recognized him either! That's crazy. And very cool. Ahhh, the many faces he wore! I still would love to see that appearance of his one day, too. I've been hoping for a picture or something of that for a while, too!

Interesting episode too! They let Big Bird stay on Sesame Street, while still respecting the effort to preserve endangered species (because sometimes animals do need to be taken to preserves).

Plus it introduces the idea yet again that Big Bird has a ton of relatives. If that's the case, why does he live alone on Sesame Street? Hmm...

I guess that because birds migrate?
Hmm, good point. You know, I remember an episode of SS where Big Bird encounters two regular little birds who are attempting to migrate. But they keep putting it off or getting confused. Big Bird keeps glumly remarking over and over again "Something tells me it's gonna take a long time to get where they're going!" throughout the episode.

I think we've all probably seen the Richard quote "They all had weird childhoods" when speaking of puppeteers' need for privacy. I was surprised to find the entire quote that Emmy had found a couple years ago and posted on the forum. Apparently it was from a 1980 Smithsonian exhibit on puppets. Did anyone else ever see this?

"Yeah, I guess puppeteers are not always comfortable in social situations," said Richard Hunt, who said he works for the Muppets. "They like anonymity," he said, as he tried to get the attention of a small redheaded boy by threatening him with mayhem and making faces. "Why? They all had weird childhoods."

Lol, yeah really, how ironic that Mr. "I'm the Outgoing Muppet Performer" is talking about anonymity. Hehe, yeah it was a great find.

I've been to the Smithsonian before, but that was years ago, I barely remember it. I'd definitely like to see it again.
