You were close. his name is "The Spooble". A muppet geek caught me on this piece of trivia many years ago and now...now I shall never forget it. *sigh* So is life.

I'm pretty sure the puppet, consisting really of the eyes and mouth of Spooble were "matted" in. So in real life Kermit was just talking to a jar of liquid. The puppet itself looks like a talking sheet but I won't swear that it was really that.

its kinda obvious, they just put the straw in the mouth and the puppeteer makes slurping noises. the REAL question is about Christmas Eve On Sesame Street where Cookie Monster and the pencils and stuff. i mean, is there, like, a hole in his mouth?
Cookie does have a hole in his mouth, since season one. You can see it in several Letter of the Day segments.

Just the same, it looks like Frank (or David R.) tends to take things out of Cookie Monster's mouth very quickly after "eating" them and drop them below camera. It's hard to describe, but it looks like he (they) manage(s) to cover it up very well with his big furry paws. Hopefully Secret Squirrel can confirm or deny this. Also, many cookies merely break apart into many crumbs all over the place - which is what he's adored for - and never really go down his throat.

I don't think I've ever seen a hole in CM's mouth, although there was one in a CM puppet I had as a child. (Or did I tear it in there myself?)

I dont know if you guys have heard of a puppet company called Folkmanis (website www.folkmanis.com ) and they make puppets for professionals who do story telling, and also a range of puppets designed for children, they are quite a small company but they make great puppets especially which are especially good for younger puppeteers.
They have a really nice snake puppet and like many of their animal puppets, it has a secret compartment which allows things to be swallowed through the mouth, its unnoticeable unless you are the puppeteer though.

its a great example of a puppet with the ability to eat.

This is quite an occuring case.

What happens when he eats cookies, the 2 puppeteers controlling the hands (one Frank, one the Righthand man) crumble the cookie up as it goes in his mouth. You can tell, because pieces do go flying around. David does it really obviously (he needs to work on it more) because you can see large cookie bits falling out of his mouth.

However, if there is need for a hole in the throat, many puppets are made of each character in case some effect needs to be achived.

On a muppet video I have, in one episode theres a koozebane segment with kermit interviewing a liquid creature, I think he is called a koozebanian spoob, im not sure if I got the name right but whilst he is interviewing the puppet made out of liquid and stored in a glass jar another creature comes along and drinks him, This must have been done the same way, I have always wondered how they did that.

Yeah it is a little off topic, sorry. You are getting even further off topic by suggesting its off topic, lol.
