No, but I remember a Michael Sporn HBO special from the 90s called WHITEWASH, where a black girl is attacked by white gang bangers who spray paint her face white, and she becomes the focus of a local media frenzie because of it. I particularly remember an exchange between a pair of reporters that went something like. . . .

REPORTER #1: Would this be considered a hate crime?
REPORTER #2: As opposed to what, a nice crime?

I even remember the special had N-word Privileges.

WHAT? They said the N-word in a kid's movie!? That is pretty shocking. I was surprised when they said the N-word on South Park, but something for kids. That doesn't seem appropriate at all .

Racism, especially senseless acts of violence, is never appropriate, if someone depicts it in a negative, degrading way; I'd imagine that since this was a very special episode documentary, the graphic language was meant to depict the senseless, thoughtless actions, and not just for randomly dropping an "N-bomb" for entertainment's sake.

I can only imagine how controversial it would be if it were made today.

It would be even worse and more controversial if someone decided to turn the documentary into a mockumentary just for twisted, sadistic laughs.

I've been watching a lot of this lately to relive the nostalgia:

I have to say even years later it still holds up. The writing, characters, and plots were very well done and still enjoyable to this day. I think my favorite one is probably the Halloween special where Magellan is afraid of that blue monster from the movie that Batley saw. The monster puppet's design is pretty cool looking if you ask me.

Ooh, ok so, a haunting childhood memory just came back to me this morning.
I was eating pork sausage and then suddenly that scene from the 70s Charlotte's Web played in my head, the one where Wilbur is crying hysterically in the barn, shouting, "I don't wanna die!! I don't wanna die!!"
So yeah, I decided to eat a piece of fruit instead .

What are some things that you experienced at some point in your life that totally changed the trajectory of your life? Some things that really shaped who you guys are today?

For me, a couple of things. For one, the A&E bio on Sesame Street. That was the first time I had seen any of the performer, the first time I got to see what went on behind the scenes, how the puppets worked. It's what made me decide to be a puppeteer.

Another thing is Muppets Make Puppets, a book I got when I was 6, written by Cheryl Henson about puppet making. First, it spawned my interest in puppet building, but also it was the first time I found out what Jim Henson looked like, how long he lived, what characters he played, and it was the first time I found out about Frank Oz...
