I missed the live stream of The Chipmunks getting their star on the Walk of Fame today. Stupid time change.

Oh yeah. In the past raises at my company have been performance-based. Yet we all just received a tiny (2% for me) raise that we're told is it for this year, even though performance review isn't until April. Yet my department made the company millions last year. Really? "Insult" is an understatement.

The follow-up: in quietly discussing it with my work partner, found out that his raise was less percentage-wise, even though he's been with the company far longer and is expert on far more things. Huzzah for budget-slashing. Naturally none of the CEOs took a pay cut.

My mom has been having serious sight issues lately and the eye doctor told her that she may be forced to wear an eyepatch soon.

That's really sad, I'd hate for my beloved mother to only be able to see out of one eye.

I really hope that doesn't have to happen. But I mean hey, if worst comes to worst. At least there have been a couple instances of people with one eye becoming very successful:

So that is a little comforting to think about but this whole situation is all so nerve wracking, depressing, and somewhat frightening.

Let me fill you in on something. I have sight in only one eye, and I can still function like anybody else.
I had trouble with both eyes for the last seven years. I've had multiple laser shots, and every seven weeks have to get Avastin injections in both eyes.
Yes, your eye getting stabbed with a needle. Wrap your brain around that.
Four years ago, I lost sight in my right eye. It wasn't anybody's fault, it was the hand life dealt me. But since then, my left eye has gotten stronger.
Things happen in life to everybody. Nobody is immune. I'm your mother' sage, and I've had my share of things to deal with. But I'm still here.

My beloved mother didn't like it when her beloved son lost sight in one eye, but regardless of your feelings, life still goes on.

There will always be someone worse off than you or your mother. Imagine her going blind in both eyes.

Losing one eye doesn't seem so bad now, does it?

I'm not trying to be harsh or heartless, but crap is going to happen in people's lives.
It's your ability to deal with it that makes all the difference.

@Flaky Pudding believe me I understand what your mom must be going through. I've been there. It's tough. But she might only need to wear the eye patch for a little while. If not maybe some surgery might help save her sight. For that you need to see a retinal specialist. They can do more than an ipthamilogist.

If you want our church to pray for her, let me know her first name and we'll offer her up on Sunday. Meantime hang in there. Both of you.

For some reason Fanfiction.net logged me out at their website, and when I tried everything to log back in, even going so far to go through the process of resetting my password it still wouldn't let me back. There's some current nonsense about robots and a recapcia image challenge, the audio codes aren't active. Really frustrating for us visually impaired members. :(

Unless we still have a chance of having a Blackberry Winter - which we haven't had in a number of years - it looks like today will be the last day for wearing sweaters, and tonight will be the last night for wearing jammies, until . . . probably November or so.

So, I’m unemployed again because I had to resign from JC penny’s.

But honestly, it was for the best. That place was NOT for me at all. I could barely have a conversation with the customers.

The deal was, it was a temporary trial to see how I was doing. And it was not easy.

My boss didn’t think I was doing too well, but she did offer me one more week to improve, but quite honestly, I chose not to.

JC Penny’s is not my type of retail store; if anything, i’d be suited off better for FYE or GameStop. Far as I’m concerned, I wouldn’t see myself improving.

The other issue was I was barely given any hours to begin with. There was one week I only came in like one day and didn’t come back for a week. Let that sink in.

I'm sorry Penney's didn't work out for you. Retail is not for everybody. You have to be a people person and know how to hustle.
I was at Penney's for 11 years (1988 to 1999). They treated me very well. For a while I thought I wanted to do this for the rest of my life. I made good money and lived the people I worked with.
But Penney's is not the same store anymore. I'm surprised they're still in business, lately they've been taking a beating.

After WWII malls started popping up in the suburbs, and Penney's and Sears flourished while Downtown went bust. Now it's happening to the malls.
