1. I wasn't going by the Wiki, I was going by Box Office Mojo - which does have international sales for at least the post-Jim movies. I just didn't include them here.Muppet Wikia only has domestic sales of the movies figured in their calculations. Internationally, it made just a bit more, but it was only released in Mexico and Brazil so far.
TinTin is huge in Europe... not so much here. It's by far the more popular of the Eurocomics (technically the most popular would be the Smurfs, but I get the feeling people here only know of the cartoon series and figure its an 80's thing). It is getting large buzz as a movie and it may just do quite well (It's the movie I was second most juiced to see this year). I see the comics hitting more retailers (I have to go to one comic shop for all my Eurocomic needs, though I unfortunately don't have the money to frequent it), and the DVD set of the Nelvana produced cartoon is quite easy to find. I'm sure this will be America's big introduction. I can only hope this leads to Eurocomics being much more well known in the states.
So far, I'm sure everyone thinks Marsupilami was created by the Disney Studios.
2. Spielberg and Jackson are big names, which should hopefully push the film more here. Either way, it will make a profit, since, again, its budget has been made back.
