Hopefully never...but then again, now that disney has the muppets it doesnt really make any difference if this crud sees the light of day or not. Man I long for 1998 again, when we here at MC sensed the Muppets were poised for greatness.

if were talking 2004 as in our personal lives, ok yes. If we're talking Muppets, so far it's pretty abysmal.

Look we all know that for the past almost 14 to 15 years has been a really hard time for the muppets but from what one head person wrote to one of the muppet fans on here it sounds to me like the Muppets are in fairly good hands.

I also think and hope that they have the same writers preformers and producers as befor becaues they are getting better. So dont be so down on this new Oz movie it can have alot of potential and can really work. If you say your a true muppet fan the least you and all of us can suport the muppets in this very changing time

If it is along the lines of the VMX on NBC a few years ago, it'll be good. That movie recaptured The Muppets at their best (IMO) and I hope to see more like that in the future. Now with new performers of Frank Oz's characters, there's more room for improvise--the way things used to be done when Jim was alive--and more of that Muppet Magic will seep through!

Give it some time, I feel good about things now.
As far as where Disney is concerned, I'm waiting on them. Seems their first big promotion is going to be the new Muppets Website in the fall. But, we'll see.

Maybe, just this one time, Disney might do things RIGHT for a change!! There's always a possibility!!

Dwayne, last summer my heart was filled with jubilation...JHC had finally boucht back JHC and the Muppets, there was still hope for an "edgy, Fox channel prime time Muppet show", and we were still coming off the high of AVMMC.

Now the whole game has changed. That is terrific that Avenue Q won best musical, heck thats one of the biggest feats in modern puppetry. But when Disney bought the Muppets, further decisively splitting the universe and tearing it more (Fraggle Rock not considered Muppets? I dont think so) ...well...I don't see much to celebrate.

It will take an utter miracle to turn my opinion around. Freaking Disney I tell you. As for Oz, I could care less about this...sorry, classic retelling never excited me Muppet wise. This is so not the direction they need to be going into right now.

The year is 1992. The day is December 11. 'The Muppet Christmas Carol' is released in the US to millions of fans eagerly waiting for the next Muppet motion picture. This film would soon gross $27,281,507 in the theaters.

The year is 1996. The day is March 15. 'Muppet Treasure Island' is released in the US to millions of fans eagerly waiting for the next Muppet motion picture. This film would soon gross $33,609,000 in the theaters.

The year is 1979. The day is June 22. 'The Muppet Movie' is released in the US to millions of fans eagerly waiting for the first Muppet motion picture. This film would soon gross $76,657,507 in the theaters, and would eventually gross $32,000,000 in video rental sales alone.

And that was in 1979 VS 1996 -- WITHOUT inflation factored in. The VIDEO RENTAL sales of TMM ALONE outsold that of MCC, nearly going over MTI -- WITHOUT inflation factored in. Get my point?

It's not that the 'classic tale' retelling movies are bad -- they aren't. Compared to most other children's movies, they're titans. But compared to the classic original Muppet films, they're ants.

Actually, what are the stats concerning TMM vs. GMC or TMTM?

And don't put 100% stock in imdb.com; there're too many discrepancies on that site, however still a good resource.

I counldn't find any stats regarding GMC... it was late when I was writing that and I didn't feel like going anywhere else ^_~ But it did have MTM's stats, which made considerably less than TMM. With inflation factored in along with video sales, I'm assuming it made equal to or more than MCC/MTI. I'll see what I can find.

Pretty much, even tho the world's largest family entertainment company bought our beloved Muppets, the actual Muppet fans...as far as active, collecting, buffs remain as underground as ever. Sure everyone may know who Kermit and Big Bird is, but the *actual* participating active fans are few and far between...makes it more special to me, but Disney is going to need a lot of muscle to pimp our furry pals out to a public who has (sadly) long moved on.
