I've realised, compared to most of my other "Weekly Muppet Wednesday" contributions, this one seems to have a more valid reason for the character being needed than usual.

Hee... There's a thread for the pins of the Muppet Vinyls in the Muppet Merchandise section. But you want to know something even better about them? Tomorrow, July 10 2010 is the special PinVited Press Event at DisneyLand Resort. And they'll be hosting a silent auction with 15 distinct lots up for anonymous bidding. One of those lots is a Muppet Vinyl lot, Lot #5. The awesome thing is that it includes 34 items. Yes, items. For the winner of that lot gets both Artist Proof and Pre-Production samples of all eleven pins from the set and all twelve Series 1 Muppet Vinyl figures.

So yeah, one rully devoted Muppet fan will walk away with a double jackpot from tomorrow's event. Too bad I couldn't be there.

New Muppet Sculptures

(Tried to post over there, but it wouldn't show up.)

These new figural representations are exactly what I was hoping Disney would make and these are quite nice. I see what this renouned Disney artist is shooting for. However, I hope these are still prototypes. They're at level one likeness when they need an overall tweaking for more of an authentic look. They are official, but they do *look* unlicensed.

Refining Kermit's puffy features, shaving away some of the matronly elements to Piggy's face, color correction for Animal's nose and wristbands, toning down Fozzie's pronounced snout and base Statler and Waldorf's decorative balcony elements closer to the classic golden patterns would bring a B+ effort to an A+ one.

You know, last december I wrote an article about my 2010 Muppet Christmas List, and one of the things I asked for was for Disney to allow scenes with Kermit to be allowed for DVD releases of Henson-owned productions. And it looks like I have gotten my wish: Sesame Street: 20 and Still Counting was released with Kermit intact (though I think that might have more to do with Sesame Workshop's deal to include Kermit in DVD releases... aster all, Kermit is in some WB Sesame Street releases, and I think WB is a bigger rival), we got Rowlf in Dog City, and we're getting Henson's Place with the Muppets obviously included.

We may never know if my article was responsible, but you never know.
