I'm so glad you told me this, Count. And you'll know why when you and everyone else read this next chapter. The Count said:Hey Sean (MW)... Sorry for the off-topic nature of the post, but thought you'd like to know...
Like I said in your X-Muppets 1 story, WITCH's suffering the same season renewal withdrawal that affected The Winks Club. Well, TSF posted that WITCH Season 2 starts on 6/5/2006. Hope this helps.
Chapter Nine
On the evening of that same day, there was yet another community meeting being held at the Holy Trinity Church for a rebellious group of mutants that were sick of the way humanity had been treating them. As of late, there were rumors of some kind of cure that the government had been conducting just for mutants. Many had taken this as a sign that the government had finally found a way to eliminate mutants, while others had a more positive view, believing that there was finally a choice for them.
Hearing about the “Mutant Cure” repeatedly on the news, Will Vandom and her closest friends (Irma, Taranee, Cornelia, and Hay Lin) decided to attend the meeting at the Holy Trinity Church to begin their investigation on the matter. They first wanted to see what the mutants thought about the cure, and since the church was so close to the Chinese restaurant that Yan Lin (Hay Lin’s grandmother) ran, they started there. To fool the other mutants into believing they were just like them, the girls attended the meeting in their guardian forms, wearing Chinese robes that Yan Lin gave them with their wings sticking out in the back to show off their “mutant disability.” Blunk, the disgusting green-skinned dwarf that was known as a “Pastling,” joined the girls to add more weirdness to their appearance.
“Blunk, try to stay by our side during the meeting.” Will ordered. “We can’t risk getting separated amongst a group like this.”
“Blunk gotcha.” He affirmed, as the small group went into the massive church that was overfilled with a mixture of angry and calm mutants. Blunk and the girls found one section of a pew that seemed like it was unoccupied, and when they went to that area and attempted to sit down, there were small horrified screams that had stopped them.
“Please don’t sit on us!!” A small voice cried, and Blunk & the girls looked down to see five small, colorful humanoid creatures that each had tails that bore a tuft of fur on the end. They had to be no more than twenty-two inches tall to Blunk and the girls.
“Aww! What cute little…uh…things!” Hay Lin commented.
“What kind of mutants are you guys?” Irma asked.
“We’re not too sure, but the other mutants decided to nickname us ‘Fraggles’ for some strange reason.” said the one creature that had orange skin, pink hair, and red fur; he wore a yellow sweater with purple stripes and a brown vest.
“But if you giants had gone down any further, we would’ve been called ‘Pancakes’.” said another that had green skin and fur, red hair, and no visible eyes; he wore a brown cap and scarf.
“Well, we’re sorry that our ‘gigantic’ butts almost squashed you.” Will said. “We just thought that this part of the pew wasn’t already taken.”
“Oh, that’s alright. We had a little difficulty find a place to sit, too.” said the creature with the light green skin, long nose, big eyes, and a big tuft of yellow hair on his head, wearing a banana tree shirt. “It’s so crowded in here that we had to be careful not to get stepped on.”
“You really shouldn’t be walking among people that are a thousands times more larger than you are.” Cornelia said. “That’s a good way to get yourselves killed.”
“Well, what do you suggest we do?” asked the yellow-skinned creature whose red hair was in two big pigtails and wore a red sweater. “None of us have abilities that allow us to grow the size of a Gorg mutant.”
“What kind of powers do you have anyway?” Taranee queried.
“Oh, we each have different powers that are greatly magnificent.” answered the fourth creature with the pinkish-purple skin and long turquoise hair, wearing a long grey robe-like sweater. “There is no mutant in the world that has the powers that each of us have.” This creature seemed to be the “den mother” of the five, possibly because of her caring nature or the fact that she was the oldest. “Red here is always so unnecessarily upset about her power, because she can grow the size of a Gorg mutant.”
“Mokey!” Red exclaimed, with frustration. “Why did you have to go and tell them that?!”
“Why do you hate your growing power so much?” Will asked. “You can always be the Fraggle that carries your friends, just so they won’t get squished.”
“Because it’s silly!” Red snapped. “Who wants to be the size of our greatest enemy? I just feel like a big freak whenever I use that power.”
“Oh, I wouldn’t be so glum about your powers, Red.” The light green creature said. “I’m the one who has the silly power of flight and leaping great lengths.”
“My God, it’s the Fraggle version of Superman!” Irma joked.
“Flying isn’t so silly, little guy.” Hay Lin said, and she pointed at their wings. “We do it all of the time.”
“Well, it isn’t so great when you’re always bumping into things.” The light green creature remarked.
“Oh, Wembley,” Mokey said, “With plenty of practice, I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it.”
“Wanna know what my power is?” asked the green creature with the brown cap. “I can heal anyone from any disease or other kinds of pain, except for myself. What a joke I am!” The W.I.T.C.H. girls couldn’t believe what they were hearing from the three Fraggles; they each had powers that were very useful, not only to other mutants, but to themselves as well.
“Oh! I can’t believe you all are so shallow over your own abilities!” Mokey yelled, in frustration, and she addressed the green creature. “Especially you, Boober! You have the gift to heal! That is a power that I would love to have!”
“I’d love to have your power, Mokey.” Wembley said.
“You don’t love my power as much as you love yours, Wembley.” Mokey contradicted.
“You’re right. I’d be even sillier with your power.” said Wembley, who seemed very quick to change his views.
“What is your power, Mokey?” Will asked.
“I have the ability to transfer my body and mind to anyone that I touch.” Mokey revealed. “I am not ashamed of my power, because I know that it’ll help me get to know the people that I inhabit for such a short period of time.”
“So, your powers take shaking hands to a higher degree, eh?” said Irma, who wasn’t quite sure if she could believe Mokey or the other Fraggles. “Well, I have to say that it’s really awesome to have gotten to know you, Mokey.” As a harmless joke, Irma extended her hand out to Mokey, who just looked at it and saw it as a way to “get to know” Irma. The Fraggle smiled, as she grabbed Irma’s hand; but before Irma could even shake it, she felt a bizarre sensation in her heart.
Irma, Blunk, and the other girls watched Mokey in shock, as the Fraggle’s body started to glow brighter and brighter, until she was nothing more than a pinkish-purple light that flowed right up Irma’s left arm and straight into her heart. Irma’s chest glowed and dimmed, while Irma herself fell backwards, with her eyes shut. Cornelia and Will caught her nearly unconscious body and stood it up straight, allowing her to collect herself.
“Irma?” Cornelia said. “Are you okay?” When Irma opened her eyes, there was a pinkish-purple glow in them, signifying that Mokey’s soul was within her.
“Oh, my!” Irma uttered, with Mokey’s voice, and she looked at Will. “You strangers have quite a history. You’ve saved our world for a tremendous number of times from a threat greater than that of a Gorg. This particular girl has a great power of her own; she can control water in the most magnificent way!” Mokey, while she was “inside” Irma, continued to mention a number of things out of Irma’s history, some of which was very personal to her. The only Fraggle that hadn’t revealed his mutant ability was the orange-skinned one with the purple hair, who was just shaking his head at the display.
“You’d better get out of her, Mokey,” He said, “Before you end up being one with her.”
“Of course, Gobo.” Irma/Mokey said, and she came out of Irma the same way that she went into her, sitting her back down on the pew and holding Irma’s hand, as if none of what just happened ever took place. Irma, who was freaked out by the whole experience, immediately moved her hand away from Mokey’s. “Whoa! W…What just…Did she…Oh, man!!!!”
“I’d also sensed that you did not believe any of us.” Mokey told Irma. “Do you now?”
“You better believe I do!” She exclaimed, just as Will’s attention was directed towards Gobo, who was very curious about him.
“What about you?” Will asked, and Gobo looked up at her, once he realized that he was being addressed. “What’s your power, Gobo?”
“Well…my ability a little more unique from the others.” Gobo said, and he looked closely into Will’s eyes, building up a strong hypnotic connection that she could not move away from, unless Gobo let her. The other girls noticed how quiet it had abruptly gotten, and they also noticed the way Will was staring at Gobo.
“Uh…Will?” Irma said, and she was about to touch her shoulder in an attempt to wake up her, but Mokey had stopped her.
“Don’t touch her!” Mokey exclaimed. “You’ll ruin the connection if you do.”
“What connection?” Cornelia asked. “What’s going on?”
“He’s seeing into her future.” Red told Cornelia.
“Wow! What an awesome power!” Hay Lin complimented, with sincerity. “It’s kinda like that guy out of that Stephen King novel.”
“You read that book, too? Neat!” Wembley remarked, and Hay Lin smiled at him, happy that the two had something in common.
“We’d better hope Gobo’s seeing into a pleasant future.” Boober said.
“Wh…What if he isn’t?” asked Taranee, a little concerned.
“Gobo has this knack for exploring.” Boober said. “And if someone’s future is pretty bleak, then you bet Gobo’s gonna find a way to get himself involved.” At that moment, Gobo had released the connection that he had with Will, and the two had stunned looks on their faces, after they both witnessed a future that they couldn’t believe.
“You and your friends have a good reason for being here.” Gobo said, and Will nodded. “Though none of you are actually mutants, your part in all of this matters most than anyone else’s.” Blunk and the girls couldn’t believe how good the Fraggle was with his abilities; with them, it was almost like he saw right through their plans.
“We just don’t want to see anyone suffer.” Will told Gobo.
“Of course!” shouted a voice from above, which was a little ironic, considering that they were inside of a church. All of the mutants looked above them to see a man with long blonde hair and dressed wildly, sitting on one of the wooden beams amongst the rafters. He was juggling small three crystal balls perfectly, without even looking at them; instead he was looking down at Will and the others. “None of us want to see each other suffer.” In a surprising move, the man moved his hands away from the crystal balls, but they didn’t fall; they just continued to move in a circular motion by themselves. “Unfortunately, some have already suffered.”
One mutant stood up and addressed the man; her name was Callisto, a beautiful, yet heavily-tattooed woman whose powers involved moving at incredible speeds and the ability to sense other mutants around her. However, she was a little surprised that she wasn’t able to sense the mutant that was above them all.
“And who are you?” Callisto asked, and before everyone knew it, the man’s presence had moved from the rafters to the platform stage at the front of the room, where he held one crystal ball in his right hand.
“I’m just like all of you.” The man replied. “I have witnessed enough hate and prejudice to convince myself that it was time to stop moping around like some twit and take action. But now I hear about some cure that the government is offering us. The same government that supposedly protects us.”
“Are you going somewhere with this speech, pal?” Irma said, and the man smiled at her, just before he tossed up the crystal ball that he was holding, allowing it to float in midair and begin increasing in size.
“I want to tell you all about this government that’s offering us this cure.” He said, and when the crystal ball was almost the size of the room, it stopped growing and started showing images of the raid that took place at Foster’s. “Our government established a strategic force, led by the infamous General Nick Fury, to see that this country remains untouchable for the next centuries.” As all of the mutants watched the images in horror, their reactions worsened as they saw how the Foster’s residents were captured and who it was that captured them. “This same governmental police captured these innocent mutants for no reason at all. And then…” The crystal ball then had shown an image of Spider-Man, Angelica, and Gonzo being blown out of a room by an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. “They have the nerve to exterminate these three mutants…for what, I ask you? Because they were different from them?”
The W.I.T.C.H. girls were surprised to see that Gonzo was one of the many mutants that were attacked in that mansion. Neither of them had forgotten what they had gone through with him on Liberty Island, because they had made such a wonderful friend and worthy ally on that night. But their surprise had quickly turned to shock, when they looked closely at the images of the explosion; from the perspective that they had been taken in, they made it seem as if Gonzo had died in the explosion, which was exactly what Will and her friends believed.
“Oh, no.” Hay Lin uttered.
“No…i-it can’t be him.” Cornelia said. “Can it?”
“It sure does look like him.” Taranee said.
“No way! The G-Man is invincible!” Irma shouted, and she angrily pointed at the man who was showing them all the images. “This creep is feeding us all lies! I bet none of this stuff ever happened!”
“She’s right.” Will said, and she went onstage to address all of the mutants in the church. “How can we believe if any of this is true? He may just be trying to find some excuse for us to go out and start a body count of our own.”
“That’s not a bad idea!” One mutant yelled, and half of the mutants in the room agreed with him, while the others shouted in contradiction.
“No!” Gobo shouted, and the room fell silent when he spoke. Some of the mutants in the church had known the Fraggles for the longest time, and they had learned to respect them and their beliefs. Others, however, thought they were too peaceful, and that they had no place in their discussion over the “Cure.” “If the government really can cure us, then we shouldn’t waste this opportunity by starting some stupid war.”
“And what if they can’t?” asked an angry mutant with green hair and ashy skin. “What if they are leading us into extermination?”
“What if this? What if that?” Irma mocked the mutant. “Geez! You people are gettin’ paranoid over something that’s still developing. Why not just wait ‘til the government gets it finished, then decide on what to do?”
“Now that’s not a bad idea.” Callisto said. “I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m not fighting until I have a good reason to fight. And as for our ‘friend’, he can…” When Callisto turned to where the man was standing, she and the others noticed how he was no longer standing there. They all looked around and realized that the stranger had disappeared from the church.
“Where did he go?” Red queried.
“Who was he is a better question.” Cornelia said, as Will stepped down from the stage and approached Blunk, the Fraggles, and the other girls.
“So what do we do now?” Hay Lin asked.
“First, we go back to the Happiness Hotel in Manhattan and see if Gonzo’s alright, which I’m sure he is.” Will replied. “Then we’re going to do more investigating on this cure.”
“Blunk can go see if Caleb has come up with something.” Blunk offered.
“Thanks, Blunk.” Will said, and she pulled out a walkie-talkie from underneath her robe. “Be sure to tell him that he can contact us if anything comes up.”
“Blunk can do that.” He said. “That’s an easy job for Blunk.”
“Yeah, just remember not to stop by any garbage cans on your way to see him.” Irma told Blunk. “What’s going on now is more important than a leftover hamburger wrapper. Got it?”
“Blunk got it.” Blunk affirmed, just before he dashed out of the church. As Blunk crawled down the sidewalk, the man that appeared in the church had appeared in a dark alleyway, watching Blunk carefully. Another dark figure soon appeared next to him; it was Magneto, who was also looking at Blunk.
“Ever since Liberty Island, those girls have interfered with several mutant affairs. And though they’re not mutants themselves, they’re a much stronger force than I’d imagined.” Magneto said, moving his gaze to his “friend.” “I don’t want them to be part of the opposing team this time, Jareth. Help them find a reason to join the Brotherhood and use their remarkable powers for a greater cause.”
“It shouldn’t be too hard.” Jareth told Magneto, as he glared at the crystal ball in his hands. “After all, I am the master of manipulation, aren’t I?”
