I'm wondering if any of you are Flintstones fans? I watched that show religiously on TBS growing up. I remember it was on right after Tom and Jerry's Superstation funhouse, which was later changed to Tom and Jerry's TBS fun house, and even later changed to simply "Tom and Jerry's Funhouse" It was a half hour long and usually shown a Bugs Bunny cartoon, a Tom and Jerry cartoon, and a Popeye cartoon. After that was the Flintstones once at 3:35pm and again at 4:05pm. I loved the Flintstones a lot. I liked the Pebbles and Bamm Bamm episodes a little better, but the older ones from the first few years were good too. Something about TBS in the early days they used to always cut off part of the closing theme. I remember it would end in a different spot each time. Sometimes really early in the theme just as they were pulling up through the drivethru, and other times at the end just as Fred was being put out. I watched the show for a whole year before I finally heard Fred yell "Wilma!" I always wondered how that closing actually ended. Anyways I remember in the fall of 1992 all that cutting stuff stopped and they usually showed the full ending. I remember they also got new versions of their episodes because they were edited in different ways. The original versions TBS had had pretty poor picture quality, making things look really dark and faded in some scenes. They were also edited in a less consistent way back then. They would sometimes edit out the beggining scene of an episode and start it out someplace else like the second scene or halfway into the first scene. You could always tell, because rather than fade onto the screen after they zoomed into the drive in movie screen at the begging, it would go to black then the picture wouldn't suddently come on, with no fading. Also if you were really smart you'd be able to tell that's not where the episode originally began, because it just seemed really weird at how the shows would start out. Well they originally cut out whole big scenes (usually the beggining) this would create confusion sometimes. Like in the episode when Fred wants him and Barney to play hooky from work so they can see a Baseball game and the plan Backfires when Barney says tells his boss he's really sick and his Boss sends puts him in the Hospital. There is a scene that was cut from the original TBS version when Fred disguises himself as a doctor and Operates on Barney and all he does is take a pair of pliers and tugs on Barney's nose. After this everyone asks him how he's doing and he says "I'm fine, but my nose is killing me" this nose refference makes no sense when you didn't see the part with Fred doing the fake operation. Anyways, later on when they got the new versions of the shows, they often edited out little lines and small scenes here and there, rather than whole big scenes. Eventaully my cable provider started carrying Cartoon Network, and the episodes shown on there were complete with everything. TBS eventually got rid of The Flinstones in the fall of 1998. Probably because the uncut Cartoon Network episodes were becomming more popular. Anyways just a few years ago Cartoon Network got rid of The Flinstones. Does anyone know if The Flinstones can be seen anywhere's else? Also who else here is a Flinstones fan? And who remembers when they were on TBS back in the day?

I did enjoy watching The Flintstones growing up, and enjoyed the movie with John Goodman and Rick Moranis.

One thing I enjoyed about the Flintstones is that they had laugh tracks.

Besides the DVD's that Kimp mentioned (Season 4 comes out in November with Yours Truly doing audio commentary), they are still run on Boomerang, the spin-off of the Cartoon Network.

They may have stopped running Boomerang ON Cartoon Network, but it's its own separate channel. As they say, if your cable operator doesn't carry Boomerang, call and request it!

Oh yeah I have been a HUGE Flintstones fan ever since toddlerhood. The Flintstones and Tom and Jerry are my two favorite cartoons of all time. Just like SS, I heavily watched The Flintstones as a child. By the way, here's a post I made back in May regarding that:

That sounds just like my SS childhood story! I watched SS heavily from those same years and sometimes several times a day like you did. (Also watched "The Flintstones" reruns several times a day every day in the early 70's. Used to drive the babysitter nuts when she had to always watch SS and The Flintstones when she was over!).
And whenever I've caught these shows throughout the years since then, it is always a pleasure. In fact, just as memories from SS have popped in my mind for years, it's the same with The Flintstones. It was just a great show! Very creative and innovative. Very entertaining. Very funny! And lots of great songs too (I remember there was another recent thread where I listed some of the many Flintstones songs I loved and Was Once Ernie mentioned there was a cd from about 1994 he produced). (By the way, that's really really neat that you do audio commentary, Was Once Ernie, for the soon to be released season 4. We have a real celebrity here!).

I loved that episode you mentioned, Booberfraggless, about Barney going to the hospital and Fred being a surgeon. That was such a riot when Fred kept trying to sneak past that nurse in the waiting room! There's so many other great episodes. Can't recall if I ever specified some of the ones I love here at MC before. I'll just reference a few here:
(1) The ten Flintstones (Yobba Dobba Doo! - that's how it was pronounced by those alines!)
(2) Barney is invisible
(3) Barney and Fred get their hands stuck to a bowling ball, Actually I'm pretty sure I HAVE mentioned some of these episodes here before. Let me do a quick search.
Ah yes here it is. Take a look at post #10

I did like the Flintstones. I still do. It was sort of the Simpsons of the time because I think it was the first cartoon that was in primetime sitcom format. They even had a laugh track with was funny.
I used to get confused when Barney had a new voice though.
