Of course! Why should you waste one of the greatest things in life?

Typical women.... that's why I live alone... you bet... I get up, go to work, come home, read a book, have a couple of beers, take myself for a walk, then go to bed.

Stay away from women, that's my mot-to!

You can't? Me either... that's my trouble...

You can't live with 'em,
You can't live without 'em,
There's irresistablish about 'em,
We grin and bear it 'cause the nights are long,
I hope that somethin' better comes along.

It's no good complainin',
And pointless to holler,
If she's a beauty, she'll get under your collar,
She made a monkey outta old King Kong,
I hope that somethin' better comes along.

Still, it's fun when you're fetching,
And agree to see an etching
That you'd keep at your lilypad,
There is no solution,
It's part of evolution,
The pitter-patter of souls,
The little feet of tadpoles...

There's no limitation to mixing and matching,
Some people get an itchin' for a critter they've been scratching,
A skunk was badgered the results were strong,
I hope that somethin' better,
I hope that somethin' better,
I hope that somethin' better comes alooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong!

You're right, it's bad to waste chocolate. Maybe the ones with coconut in them?

Yes, that's what we'll do! Coconut... nasty stuff! Ick!

On another note, all this talk about depression and lonliness, I suddenly remember a bit of a conversation I had with a friend once - he mentioned about how he always used to put a girl up on a pedastal, so I explained to him "Don't you know that's why pedastals were invented? So lonely guys like us can put cute girls up on them."

I know most of you are younger than me,but can I gripe (again?) please?
Valentines' Day drives me crazy just like it did last year and the year before,I honestly thought that I'd be married,or at least have a guy in my life by now. No such luck. And it hurts like you wouldn't believe! Then again,I live in an area filled with senior citizens. .I don't expect any of them to ask me out, needless to say. I dated a guy for a while.10 years ago before I moved. But my grandmother (& his stepgrandmother) played Cupid for the 2 of us. He was very nice! He gave me all sorts of sweet things. Unfortunately he wanted something Online (I won't say what because first of all you all are probably smart enough to know what.Second of all, this is a family forum.) So that was the end of that.
I hate not having a guy in my life! I was griping in Facebook about it & my former next door neighbor from when I lived in New York posted "Well, you always have me,Kath.Friends forever." I lived next door to him for 26 years. He 's 2 years younger than me.He got married 2 years ago.He could have made a move on me! I was RIGHT there for 26 years!(I don't know...maybe it was awkward for him.Or maybe I was too ugly for him.I don't know. )

I'm kind of the opposite... again, because I don't see myself as being a very good soul mate, I don't plan on there ever being a girl in my life.

While I can't say I know how you completely feel Kathy, I know the hurt you're feeling... having planned being a bachelor for life, then falling in love with a female friend who is already in a happy relationship hurts as well. I was hoping cutting off all contact with her and ending our friendship over a month ago would help me, but it hasn't... but I know I had to before I said anything I shouldn't have, which would've probably stressed her out.

I keep trying to remind myself that I've already gotten something I want - her to be happy, which she is.

Here's where I stand...

I would LOVE to play the part of the bitter broken heart and say the same old catchphrase "Valentines days was created by the card and candy companies" blah blah blah... but I really feel it's better to just ignore it. Oh yeah, I hurt inside... but it's one thing that I just don't think bothers me enough to complain about anymore. Dude, I STILL hate the holiday, and plan to bash my head against the wall again and again, but there's really no point in me saying the same old stuff over and over. I'm more disappointed that I'm not invited to cool Halloween parties than being alone on Valentines... mainly because that's just a LOT more fun in my mind. I mean, you get to make a costume, you get to pretend to be something fun, stuff like that... Even if you have someone on Valentines Day, without getting adult, what are you planning to do? See a movie you'd hate? Pay a fortune for an overpriced meal you have to reserve months in advance? That doesn't even sound as fun as dressing up like Bert and drinking till you puke. :smirk:

I actually saw the Valentine's Day movie and it didn't totally suck. I'd planned to see a different one, but my friend and I had a small window of time and it was the one playing. It's nothing to write home about, but it's a solid C grade movie with a few laughs and not too syrupy. :flirt::sing:
