I mean...I escaped the lab and for a while was living with who I THOUGHT were my birth parents...and was living as a female and they never said anything to make me suspect something was up...they even celebrated when I came back...I don't understand...

I don't understand this either. I wish there was a way to gain access to your true memories or to travel back in time. Not as in actually being there and changing the events but as phantoms no one can see or hear.
But what if your true family was in danger all those years ago and your memories were altered to protect you? That is if those who altered your memories weren't te scientists. Unless your parents thought they could trust them :/
