Remember that dragon that used Johnny's body to destroy Monstropolis and remember the scientists who were after us? Anyway, it seems his body absorbed the dragon DNA but it was dormant until the scientists briefly captured Johnny and messed with his DNA. Three guesses what form he has.

Like I said, scientists messed with Johnny's DNA structure. He wouldn't have the form if they hadn't done it.
