I just have a feeling for character growth, most of all if the chipmunks have shorter lifespans that humans...I'm not saying my way is the only way of seeing them, just that is the only way I can see them, I am the same way with fraggles and muppets...

It's not so much a conversation about them as what they stand for...anyway, any topic about characters you've loved since childhood can get heated . It's the same reason why ones about the muppets do to, and we don't think of that as weird
