Cartoon Network started the same thing, and ended it for the same reasons. They had the first season of Powerpuff Girls released in a cheap 2 disk set. I was hoping it would open the doors for Dexter, Johnny Bravo, and the rest. But unfortunately it didn't.
We started getting some Ed, Edd n Eddy DVDs... first we had like two volume sets, then they came out with two season sets.

Down in Australia, just about Season One of all the GOOD Cartoon Cartoons is out on DVD including Courage the Cowardly Dog and Cow and Chicken/

I heard about that too. The only Courage cartoons were on a compilation of Halloween related (sometimes very distantly related) cartoons. Think there could have been a Christmas one too.

There is.

It's called "A Cartoon Network Christmas: Yuletide Follies"; basically, it has Christmas, and wintery-themed episodes of Cartoon Cartoons, such as the Ed, Edd n Eddy episode "Fa, La, La, La, Ed", the Courage the Cowardly Dog episode "The Nutcracker", the Grim and Evil episode "Son of Nergal", the Johnny Bravo Christmas special featuring Donny Osmond, The Powerpuff Girls episode "Ice Sore", the Dexter's Laboratory episode "Snowdown", the Cow and Chicken episode "Me an My Dog" (neither Christmas, NOR winter related), and the I am Weasel episodes "I.R.'s 1st Bike" and "Dessert Island" (I'm guessing because of the tribe of gingerbread men).

That's like the ONLY Cartoon Network compilation DVD that's been available in my town, and that was the ONLY copy I found at Sam's, so I grabbed it.

Because they didn't have enough popular series released to garner enough buyers. personally, I wanna know what the freaking hold up with Rocko and Doug, and basically any Classic Nicktoon besides Ren and Stimpy.
I don't know? I mean Clarissa Explains It All was insanely popular and The adventures of Pete and Pete has enouhg fan I think for this to continue. It's very popular and has a cult following amount fans right now. But I do not but that excuses. I think Viacom's new execs just didn't wan to put it out or promote the way they should have. Something very similar happen with the change of the guards at Nick back in 96. The first thing to go was Roundhouse. It's like all the show that used to be continually get looked over for something more "marketable" Sponge Bob anyone?:smirk::stick_out_tongue:

New execs keep their jobs by promoting their pet projects that usually replace other ones (even moderately popular ones). Spongebob is just good business, but it's 24/7 on Nick. I liked Invader Zim and feel that it had a place in the lineup along side the more popular spongey one, but was axed for being too interesting. I love Spongebob, but I enjoy diversity in programming. I suppose Zim frightened too many parents.

By the way, the Blu-ray of "Alvin and the Chipmunks" was beautiful. I didn't know creator Ross Bagdasarian penned the Rosemary Clooney classic "Come on-a My House" and the Chipmunks' hit "Witch Doctor" too!

Yeah, I like Sponge Bob too. But he is on over kill. Yeah, Nick used to be known for their more artistic endeavors. But success has sort of taken a tool on that. But they have a lot of shows up in the air right now that have a lot of un-aired episodes. I know that danny Fanton has at least 11-13 un-aired episodes and I know that They have just not aired Avatar at all and the season was finished a long time ago and they have yet to air it in America when it has aired in the UK and other palaces already. It's like they tool it off for eight months and now they are going to be showing them something soon. But I don't know why that are acting to off with the scheduling this year? That's all kinds of other things wrong with it over there. There's a bunch of un-aired Drake & Josh episodes that were finished a long time ago as well.:smirk:

Today Special was a Y-TV show in Canada I believe. Hope they do get to releasing that one.

I do not know the exact story, but Zim seems to have suffered the same problem Ren and Stimpy had. The older audience outnumbered the youngsters. Maybe kids felt it was too dark (and it is). Seems like something that should have been on MTV instead of Nick. Had Nick or Nicktoons had something allong the lines of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, it would have had a comfortable place there.

They do. It's Nick at Nite, but that's for live-action sitcoms.

Of course, I was speaking hypothetically. Still... I wonder why they didn't try it on MTV like they used to with Ren and Stimpy.
