Okay, actually.

Did Steve do any other characters on Sesame Street besides Ernie?

Now that I think about it....

To my knowledge no, and that being the case I could understand why they recast Ernie.

He was Dr. Feel, as well as the Stuckweed in EIG.

If he could confirm what Terry Angus has said about why we've been seeing considerably less of Rizzo (and other Muppet rats in general) in more recent Muppet projects.
Wasn't it about the fur or something?

I think he was the father bird in episode 3854, and he was Dr. Feel. But he also played some one-time characters in home videos. The King of Reading and Writing from Talk, Read, Write, the lead of the Frosty Four, Mo, and a Troll on Bert and Ernie's Word Play, a doctor in Sesame Street Goes to the Doctor, and in the movie Elmo in Grouchland, he was the Stuckweed, Sharon Groan, the Bad Humor man, and the Football Stenchman.

I might not be able to get a video but I'll definitely get a picture, for sure.
