I think this can mostly be contributed to its Blue-Ray player witch hikes up the price a whole lot so there is only so far they can go in the price lowering department. I mean they took care of it as far as memory goes. It's funny because Nintendo is the only one making a profit on all hardware sold and is losing nothing.

Usually, this would not be a threat as this has been the model for Video games sense at least 1984 where you lose profit of heard wear and make up for it through game publishing. I mean PS2 broke even before the next generation came out and have been seeing a profit sense then. But PS3 is apparently a part of the ten year plan that Sony say will work. It was hope that with the release of Grand Theft Auto that that would boost sells, but that mostly sold on the X-Box 360 due to things like the exclusive online content for the version of the game. But apparently everybody is working on motion two part motion sensitive controllers, haha!

I have hopes for PS3

My partner has a PS3 and loves it. The real issue, as I understand it, is the expense compounded by the current scarcity of titles designed specifically for PS3. The Blu-ray inclusion is more of a selling point that they shouldn't lose. We have quite a collection.

Right now it's something high-end that will find greater favor down the road. That's the prediction anyway. Little Big Planet and Home will both be a large part of the PS3's future success. I'm no gamer, but as a multimedia graduate I can see the graphics and engine have no equal.

I really can't wait for Little Big Planet. I am convinced that if Jim Henson were alive today he'd be doing something like it!

I just don't have the money for a PS3, and an XBox360 is what I want more than anything because I like the games on it, but I'm waiting for the scary rings of death to go away :\

Yeah, I can see that a lack of games for it would cause it not to be a big seller seeing as X-box has more games available. But I mean Wii is just starting to have games available for it let alone systems you can find in a store. Another problem with the Wii is that a lot of the people they are targeting are not "hard core" gamers who go out and perches games regularly, so the only play the games that came with he system. Another problem is that they really don't have any future titles for about six months or so at some point. So the Success of this things seems kind of inexplicable depending how you look at it. But if you look at it from the stand point at Nintendo's reliance on older major selling titles, (Smash Bros., Mario Cart, Mario Galaxy, etc.) then some sense it made out it their success.

I got a Wii as soon as I could, but then, I'm not really a casual gamer

Sony Confirms Movies Download Service For Its PlayStation 3

http://www.efluxmedia.com/news_Sony...load_Service_For_Its_PlayStation_3_19573.html

This could breathe new life into the system and its sells too. But again, just like its ATRAC format not working out so well. This is what they always try to do. Make a format all or there own that never out last what's already there. I don't doubt the Blur-Ray's capability's, but I thing the DVD still has a long life in it and another generation in it with DVD 2.0 or the next one up. You can already watch Regular DVD's in HD quality formatting. They might be able to compete with i-tunes with their download service. But not any time in the near future. But I love that PS3 is now going to have an online service to compete with X-Box, though!

My mistake because casual gamers don't perches games that much. I mean like more intense games. But when the Wii, a lot of the audience for that makes preaches games even less then casual fans do. So it's going to be hard to rely on that to keep this system going. I mean Wii Fit has been sort of the exception to this rule, heh!

For my partner Ian's sake I hope the PS3 does grow and take-off like Sony claims. He's so heavily invested in the system and it's hard to pry him away from it!

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Heavenly Sword, Folklore and Resistance are all quality PS3 exclusives that I've seen in action. They are truly amazing and could not exist in their present form on any other platform.

The same goes for the unreleased Home and much anticipated LittleBigPlanet. I started a thread about LBP a while back, but it had few takers. As a non-gamer it could actually get me into gaming!

Fantastic example clip: http://youtube.com/watch?v=uP-X_AOEtKE

Trailer that shows the real world physics and theme song: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Taiurn541SE

Three things that really need to happen for the PS3 to take off:
-The price needs to come down (they're working on that).
-More coveted exclusive games need to be available.
-A Wii-like attachment (I hear they're making one).

Time will tell. Sony has a lot of clout in both the game and film industries so a lot of people want to see it succeed. I'm simply interested in Blu-ray and LittleBigPlanet. :coy:

It looks like Little Big Planet might just be a big rival for the Wii and give it a run for its money. It defiantly will be a big hit that's for sure. I know that Ratchet & Clank is one of the best plat forming games there’s ever been no question about that. I have the first three games myself. The funny thing it none of them have ever started out that big when they were first released, but the all became hugely successful titles for the Play station brand. I know that my brother didn't one a PS3 at first, but now that there are games he wants for it he defiantly wants one now. We should for get that games are number one and the most important thing heh!
