Okay we all know what Ernie does when he has trouble falling asleep. And anybody who has ever heard Big Bird snore knows the reason why Oscar is so grouchy is that he never gets any sleep. So what do you do when you have trouble falling asleep.
I'm asking this partially out of insane curiousity and partially because my 32 weeks pregnant wife has started snoring like a grizzly bear, thus causing me to have trouble falling asleep. Unfortunately, I don't have a bugle, and if I did I think our baby would suddenly be fatherless if I decided to blow it, so I need some help here. What do you do when you can't  ?

Well... Just take a cue from Bert and go sleep on the couch instead.

Ooh.

Well, if I can't sleep, I drink a glass of either hot milk or chamomile tea. Tea calms you down, and the hot milk gives you ensymes that make you sleepy (like turkey does). Also, I don't read, go on the computer, or do anything cerebral at least half an hour before bed. Also, sometimes I sleep with earplugs in, so that I can fall asleep easier.

Sometimes I can't pass out without the TV going, or reading a stack of lousy old comic books or something. But if I've got insomnia one night, it usually starts a vicious cycle and I end up with it for several days in a row....

Aah yes, the couch, actually I tried that once between my wife's last pregnancy and this one. We had had a really big argument, and in the end I admitted I was wrong (yes we men are capable of doing that), I put myself on the couch and ran into three problems

1. I am 5 feet 9 inches and the couch is 5 feet 6 inches. I need to stretch out.

2. My cat believes the couch is her sleeping spot, so naturally she meowed incessantly (come to think of it maybe my wife's snoring isn't so bad)

3. After about two hours, my wife came out and admitted that she was also wrong to get so angry over such a little thing and invited me back into the bed. (okay, this last one wasn't so much of a problem, but it did end my time on the couch)
