I have a few ways...

1. Turn the Fan and tv on...if that doesnt work...
2. Watch TV and/or a movie...if that still doesnt work...
3. Read a book until my eyes cant focus anymore.

My thing is choosing a subject, and then I run through the alphabet, soming up with things realted to the subject on each letter. For instance; fruit, weird names, book/film characters, cities, things I hate, things from my childhood etc. Works rather well actually. Or I'm thinking of one of my favourite books, and I think of what actors I would cast if I were to make a movie of that book, and I could choose whomever I wanted. Or I hang my head "out on the edge of the bed" until I get dizzy, and when my head is back on the pillow, it feels so good that I almost fall asleep instantly. And if all this fails, I try to remember dialog in a film I've seen a lot, or the exact words in a favourite book.

Hope this will help someone to get some sleep if they're not aslep already...

Hugs, Rowleene

when i was pregnant, i used to sleep (read, toss and turn) in the spare bed, so at least my husband could get some rest....maybe you could suggest this to your wife, in a very gentle sort of way...
toward the end of my pregnancy, i moved a mattress into the loungerooom in front of the television, and i could usually doze off that way...but i guess that doesnt help you really...

anyway, good luck, you have soo many good things to look forward to!! your lack of sleep now wont even matter!!

My wife moved on her own

Well, this has made things interesting. My wife's pregnancy has just caused her to have extremely bad cases of gas and heartburn, usually when I get one of these things I drink a cup of tea, however, my wife seems to think that it might trap the gas, so instead she has moved to the couch. Seems she can prop herself up better on the couch thus allowing the gas to travel up and out of her in the usual way BURP! Problem is she moves out of the bedroom in the middle of the night. Usually after I have already gotten over her snoring and fallen asleep. Needless to say this can be very disconcerting to wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and find that your sleeping companion is suddenly not there. Aaah well at least I know the baby is not going to leave the crib in the middle of the night, when he or she is finally here.

I'm glad you got the problem semi-sorted out. I was going to suggest, if you don't mind some noise, is to invest in one of those speaker pillows. I don't know if you've ever seen them, but they have a little speaker in them, with a wire you can plug into a radio or stereo.
Other than that, you can suggest to your wife, (gently, of course), that she move to the couch at the beginning of the night. This would also be easier for her, as she would be less likely to wake up during the night from discomfort.

Good luck to you both,
Kate
