Thanks Iokitek. Out of curiousity what part gives it away as being rushed? I have my own thoughts on it, but I am curious about yours. Again, thanks for the kinds words.
ok well like I said I like the puppet  So I didn't want to go into it too much. But since you asked, here it goes:

1) The inside of the mouth and tongue are just quickly cut out and glued on there. The teeth are in the right spot bit the mouthplate sticks out underneath.

2) His nose would've looked beter if it was more embedded instead of placed on top. And the stripe on his nose is not very straight.

3) His body is not very proportionate as far as I can tell.

Other than that he looks realy cool for a rushed puppet. I don't know if i could do better  But I'm a perfectionist so I always notice alot of irregularities. Especially in my own projects wich usually end up in the trash or spare part pile.

Hey Iokitek,

I like the feedback (no worries I asked you for comments). What I notice and what others notice can often be different.

Yes the tongue was not measured or check for symmatry. It was just cut quickly.

The mouthplate may seem to stick out, but it actually doesn't (optical illusion?). The top part of the mouth is longer than the bottom. It actually lines up pretty well with the top.

Agreed. The intent was to make sure the nose was glued completely flat and then airbrush black around it to give the illusion of it being embedded, but I never got to do that.

Yes, the stripe is not very straight.

You are right. I didn't do a mirriored image on both sides of the body (like I normally do). I just did it as one whole body and it is not perfectly balanced.

Again, I appreciate your insight. Remember that I asked you for your feedback. Your comments were interesting to me.

I again thank you for your kind words about my puppet.

No problem  I agree that sometimes other people have a different perspective. When I used to paint I also noticed that alot when showing work to people.

I appreciate your advice, Buck. He does have the 1st 2 books you mentioned. I am considering a POA membership for him, for his birthday, and possibly taking him to a conference over the summer. I was disheartened to see that the guild-level group nearest to me as been inactive for some time.

Blink...I showed him your website and he was totally *floored.* We have you bookmarked and will be checking back to your blog to see how it goes for you! He thought the coolest thing was about your audition, how you got to work with "the actual guy who plays Elmo!" So...you're a superstar to an 8-year-old boy.

Great response Frogster! The truth is that I approach building as a constant state of learning. I appreciate feedback. I enjoy building and I am proud of my work. But ultimately it is done for the artistry and the love I have of puppets/puppetry.

Thanks for the kind words Frogster.

Funny. I think it was pretty cool as well, but I am far from a superstar. As I said before, I think the superstar is you for supporting your son in his love of puppetry. I hope to update my website in the near future.
