The show will be closing on August 26th. I'm sad I didn't get a chance to see it; I had the opportunity to see it last December but saw Mary Poppins instead (easily the worst thing I've seen on Broadway).
I refuse to see Disney shows on Broadway (except Beauty and The Beast. That one I really wanna see or be in.). They're just not as good as the movie. :smirk:

I'm thinking about seeing Lion King this year; it's been running for 15 years so it must be good. I saw Beauty and the Beast in 1999 and it was wonderful. That's one I want to actually be in more than any other show; I had the opportunity to do the show twice and it eluded me both times.

Lucky you. My dad saw Beauty and The Beast about a few months or so (or maybe it was a year, I don't remember) before it closed. I was SO devastated when I found out it closed. I really wanted that show to be the first Broadway I would ever see. It actually ended up being Wicked instead, and I LOVED Wicked (It's one of my favorite shows still, but I'm not like the typical die-hard Wicked fan.) I can't believe I only saw Wicked 6 years ago.....and it's still running. Time flies.....I didn't get to see my second show until 3 years later, though.

I did wind up seeing Lion King and I regret waiting so long. Seeing it in the fourteenth year of its run versus within the first five years made all the difference in the world. You could tell that the actors look at it as purely a job rather than having fun with it, which turned out to be a good thing in terms of pacing; it moved along very briskly, unlike Mary Poppins (there was no reason for Step in Time or Feed the Birds to be included other than they were in the movie and the audience expected them to be in the stage show).

Anyway, Sister Act will be touring all through the USA this year!

As I said I honestly have no desire to see any Disney shows on Broadway (other than Beauty and The Beast and Newsies.......that's pretty much it.) Mary Poppins is actually closing this March because the Disney people are setting up for the upcoming stage adaptation of Aladdin that will take Mary Poppins's place. (And, from what I'm hearing, Aladdin won't be open until next year because of the renovations they're going to make to the theater.)
