thought maybe we should list some of them. 1 was mostly a film and a probably a very early one about triangles. sarts out with an annoucer sayimg A triangle and you see an a and somehow becaome a triangle and throughout the film we'd see different triangles maching things that look like a triangle. at the end of the film, that same lady says A triangle and now we see a girl ringing one of those musical triangles. anyone recall this one?

i meantioned in the filmes section where at different times we see a white Circle and square with the lady repeatedly saying the shapes name each time they find something that matches them. now with the sqaure one we see the back of a truck, a window, a sign and i can't rememebr what else. > the circle one, love the music in it. we see a headlight of a volswagon beetle, a wheel of some GM car. a yellow sign that says OK and a traffic light where we see all 3 lights at 1 time. now was there anything i missed in both films?

I remember these

I remember these from the 1970's and early 1980's. The one with the square and circle involve the square- or circle-shaped object being 'surrounded' by a border which 'hugs' against the edges of the featured object (OK sign, back of truck, etc.). I also somewhat remember the music - the one for the sqaure was more 'pumped-up' and 'energetic,' while the one for the circle was more 'somber-sounding' (at least I thought so).

As for the triangle one, I also remember it, albeit vaguely.

Triangle and Square segment.

One of my favorite shape segments was an animation in which a triangle danced on to the scene to some catchy jazz music. Then a square quickly rolled in (think square wheels) next to the triangle, to the sound of a more "mechanical" tune.

The triangle literally laughed at the square for being so rigid. While the triangle could alter his shape every which way (becoming obtuse, scalene, etc.) the square had to remain consistent, though he could become larger or smaller as a whole. Among the lines:

SQUARE: "I don't have to decide which side to make long and which short. I don't have to decide what shape I want to be."
TRIANGLE: "But wouldn't you like to be able to go like this (makes crazy shape) or this (sort of 'folds over')
S: "When you're a square, you're a square, and that's that."

At the end, the square rolled out, and the triangle danced off into the background.

Ernie talking about shapes

This Ernie and Bert skit comes to mind when I think about shape segments. Bert is trying to sleep and Ernie is yet again disturbing him by chattering on and on about various shapes, like the number of sides a rectangle, square, and triangle have. But then he mentions circles and is puzzled as to how many sides a circle has. He asks Bert, "Does it have 1 side, does it have no sides at all, or does it have a bunch of sides?" Then he gives up and says, "Oh well. Goodnight Bert." Up until this point Bert has been shaking his head and wishing Ernie would shut up and go to sleep. But now Bert is intrigued. "Well, I think a circle has....no sides. Well, no it could have some sides. Well maybe..." Then Ernie starts snoring. Bert calls out for him a couple of times but Ernie continues to sleep and Bert sighs. Then the camera zooms in on a puzzled face of Bert as he says, "Circle." Probably spent most of the rest of the night unable to sleep because of pondering that question.
I have asked people from time to time over the years how many sides a circle has to see what they would say. Usually people know a circle has no sides but once in a while they say, "One side" or "I don't know."

Another shape segment that happened was a cartoon when a circle was rolling down the road and hit a trench thus turning it into a square. Then as the square "rolled" along. a bird grabed the top side of the square turning it into a triangle. As the triangle was on it's way, it hit an apple tree causing apples to hit the tip of the triangle making more corners which turned it into a rectangle. As the rectangle moved along it approached a pig who took a bite out it, turning it into a trapezoid. When the trapezoid moved along it landed in the middle of a geyser pit and a rock hit the longer side changing it into a pentagon. With some help from a spray of water from the geyser it was on it's way only to have an arrow hit it changing it into a hexagon. As the haxagon moved on it's merry way it approached a spider who used his 8 legs, changing it into an octagon. When the spider sees this he turns the octagon into his new spiderweb. Without question the look on the spider really freaked me out.

1 square and one circle cartoon where we hear guitar playing and a man says the name of the shape and we see things that are square or circle shapes.
