I always thought that Rowlf should have had a bigger part on the Muppet Show, but seem to remember reading somewhere that because his personality was simular to Kermits (they're the 2 sanest characters on the show) as well they were both performed by Henson making it difficult for them to interact together...anyways I always felt the dog got ripped off. I mean, never mind that he's a talking dog, he can play the piano too!!! Let's see Scooby Doo do that!!!!

If you've seen the UK skits, he was quite well used in the show actually. Most times those UK skits was him playing the piano, or singing a song, while playing the piano. Of course the Henson character conflict didn't help, he was quite well used in my opinion. But of course that's just my opinion too.

Yeah, I think the show could have worked out pretty well with Rowlf as the emcee...

Well from what I've gathered, Henson liked to perfrom Rowlf more than Kermit because Rowlf was more like his personality, laid back, while Kermit had a wide range of emotions, like panicking when a show wasn't working out.

But do to the puppet size of Rowlf, Henson decided to have Kermit as the star since Kermit was easier to perfrom, while Rowlf had to have two puppeteers, one for the body and one for a hand of Rowlf's.

But honestly, I like Rowlf a lot more than Kermit. He's the kind of guy, or dog, you'd hang out with and talk about stuff.

It's to bad Rowlf isn't a main character now a days. Personally, I think Barretta needs to give Rowlf to somebody who will perfrom him to interact with everybody. Barretta just has to many characters and Rowlf is one of his lesser performed characters.

I love Rowlf an all time favorite of mine. I think he has a coolness about him as well.

As soon as I saw this post of yours Frogster I thought to myself imagine Rowlf trading places with Kermit on the show.

Can you see Rowlf popping out of that big O to say It's the Muppet Show etc.? Or Rowlf having to cope with the affectionate flirtings and karate chops of Miss Piggy? Or hosting those first season panel discussions in his tuxedo?

And how about Kermit as the piano-playing frog in those U.K. numbers? And as Sherlock Holmes in the Joel Grey U.K. sketch? And getting so upset trying to recite his poem silence in another episode only to be told by Rowlf "Keep it down Kermit. We're trying to do a show here" then crying his eyes out.

The mind Boggles. And you would need to have an avatar of Rowlf and change your username to Dogster:big_grin:
