I'm working on a couple of books right now. I'm still working on "The Snake Stone," and last night I started "The Wreck of the River of Stars," by Michael Flynn. Today, while I was in New York on my afternoon off, I found a shop specializing in French-language books, and I picked up a mystery called "L'Homme de Londres" (The Man from London) by Georges Simenon.
As for ones I've finished recently: there's one called "The Blue Rose," by Anthony Eglin. It's about a couple who find a blue rosebush growing in the garden of the house they've just bought, and since a blue rose is the Holy Grail of the horticulture world, they find themselves being besieged and threatened by desperate growers. It's a cool book, nicely written.
I also just finished "The Shipping News," by Annie Proulx. Wonderful book, both silly and poignant at times. The copy's on loan from my grandmother, so I might have to see about getting my own copy one of these days.
