Question about the Jim figure answered

With the seperate licensing fee they probably have to pay, I doubt they will give it away as a freebie. I'm sure they had to pay a small fortune. Remember back when the idea was discussed a year ago? But I wish they would.

I don't think it's been explained to everyone about the seperate licensing fee yet, maybe you can explain or something ?

Ken said about a year ago that a Jim Henson figure (even though the puppet appeared in the Muppet Show) would require a seperate license. I beliieve it comes from the Jim Henson Foundation, not Henson Co. They are totally seperate things and getting such a license is likely quite steep. It just shows how these figures are a labor of love for the folks at Palisades. Sure, they are in business to make money, but a Jim figure probably doesn't help them either way. I'd be surprised if they did more than break even on it. There just isn't as much desire for such a figure except with extreme fans like most of us - and I don't see how that's going to cover more than the totally seperate licensing fee.

I could be wrong on the profits, but it is a totally seperate fee.

Whether or not it's the puppet, it was still made in his likeness. His likeness is not owned by EMTV/JHC, it is something protected by the family who are part of the Henson Foundation. I would imagine the whole idea of using Jim's name and likeness was strictly defined in the sale contract for Jim Henson Company when the family left.
