What people don't notice is that people are inherently greedy. Have you, for example, ever watched a small child at Christmas always wanting to know where their next present is? It's something all of us are born with, just wanting to look out for ourselves. It's part of being individuals, and that's why communism -- though good in theory -- doesn't work. It assumes that all people have the same goal and work ethic; but in reality some people can be hard working and some can be lazy, or some can be well suited for the jobs they're made to do, and others cannot. But since everyone gets the same amount of pay in communism, there's no incentive to work hard, so they don't.Originally posted by punkNpuppets
in capitalism get jobs and stuff for the money mainly. it leads ppl into greed. and in communism ppl learn how 2 just get jobs cuz they enjoy it cuz of the equal pay.
The ones in the government at the top are the ones who benefit from the labor of civilians. There are always the greedy ones in the system, and in communism it's the elite in the government (not to mention those who slack off on the labor end of things -- laziness is a form of greed). For civilians it's a terrible system. I recommend reading "A Day in the Life of Ivan Dinesovich" by Alexander Sohlzenitzen (I know I screwed up the spelling in there somewhere ). It vivdly descibes from first-hand observance what communist governments can do to their people. And who's ever heard of a wealthy communist country?
With capitalism, people are free to work at the paces and jobs that are right for them. Of course they're still going to be greedy, but the "greedier" they are, the harder they'll work. And that's good for the whole economy.
Don't get me wrong -- I'm not saying greed is a good thing. I'm just saying that it's there, and capitalism (IMHO), harnesses it best -- not only for individual success, but for the success of a nation's economy.
