Pen Pals and Secret Admirers

Hey, gang!

Yes, I'm being nosey but sharing at the same time.

What's been your experiences with pen pals or secret admirers?

Online, I of course share emails with my friends from different forums, mostly from MC, and there are emails with family and other friends. I think the furthest I have emails with is in Sweden.

I do get postcards from folks once in a blue moon.

Lately, I've been getting sent some packages of wonderful enjoyment: Mystery Mini Muppet dolls are being sent to me from someone in Chattanooga/Knoxville TN area. These are rays of sunshine and I always perk up and smile big! (Thanks to whoever it is, if you see this).

The other day, I found a small package of candy with a little balloon attached reading, "PS I LOVE YOU." No note or anything who it came from, and I think it was left at the wrong door actually. I hope it's not someone who used to stalk me long ago that might have found me again. That'd be spooky.

So, what's your experiences with pen pals or secret admirers?

No PenPals anymore, I used to e-mail a guy from a Drama Workshop where we became friends but the e-mail tapered off (the fault being mine...) and as for secret admirers, the closest I ever came to having one of those was the threatening messages from King Agrippa and that was, er, me aswell...

I've always wanted a pen pal but never really had one, aside from my cousin, which doesn't really count since the whole cool thing about a pen pal is getting to be really good buddies with someone you've never met just through correspondence. Since I've been online, though, I've exchanged lots of e-mails with people, and IMs too. I don't have many addresses of people I know online, though, or any phone numbers, even for folks I've known for close to four years (I didn't really become a big Internet user until college, which is a shame; I wish I'd been on e-mail and IM throughout high school). And I've never had a secret admirer, either, unless it was the sort of secret admirer who keeps it a complete secret.

Naw, I've never really had a secret admirer who gave me stuff (mine were always the cheap type). I had a good friend who liked puppets a lot who moved to Pennsylvania and we developed a Penn-pal relationship, but it stopped somehow and I really wish I knew how to contact him now. I also had an anti-girl club back when I was a big smart boy and one of my friends in the club moved to Denver where he started another branch of it; so I had a 2 or 3 year correspondence with him (yes, it took me that long to come to my senses, ladies).

I was in a little theatre group once and we did a "Secret Brother/Sister" thing, but I always ended up giving a lot and NEVER getting anything in return. So one of these days I expect to get something REALLY big for no apparent reason.

Anyway, sounds exciting, Kev. Keep us posted on Miss Mystery...

Well, being in the part of town that I'm in--close to an artsy district and stuff--you're right: It could be ANYBODY! It's the only thing that's shown up on my door, nobody leaving notes or anything else so I figure it's just someone put a gift at the wrong door.

Cindy, it's not Muley. He buys stuff for HIM. Rarely does he do much more than terribly wrap gifts I buy folks and/or sign the card.

Peter, you're travelling all the way down to middle Tennessee to send me stuff?? How sweet! Oh, tell Larry that Muley says Hi.
