Episode 38: The Man-Made Solar Sphere

Terrorists are threatening the world with a remote controlled artificial sun that causes destruction through its intense heat rays. A detective has been assigned to destroy the sphere and apprehend the terrorists and Astro is on the case to assist him.

There is a catch though. The detective has some sort of bitter grudge against robots and won't work with Astro. But if he doesn't humble himself and accept Astro's help this is one case he'll be unable to succeed in.

This is a nail-biting episode with a very surprising twist in the ending.

I'll be back.

Episode 39: Blackie Young

Astro and Daddy Walrus are at the South Pole to investigate a gang of thieves and killers in black masks who only attack robots. Their leader is the mysterious Blackie Young. It is said that when he was a small boy his mother was brutally murdered by a bunch of robots. So he destroys robots to avenge her.

Could robots really have committed such an unbelievably cold-blooded deed? See how the adventure is resolved when Astro and Daddy Walrus have their showdown with Blackie.

Stay tuned for the next review.

Episode 41: The Robots Nobody Wanted

Three robots, a nurse, a welder and a fireman, have been fired from their jobs and are facing the scrapyard. Astro wants to help them find new work but with their registration cards terminated it seems inevitable that they'll be scrapped. Can anything be done to save these three unfortunate robots?

More coming soon.

Episode 42: Atlas Forever

A race of evil aliens are attacking space stations. Atlas is at first assumed to be behind the attacks but when a space army accompanied by Astro sets out to destroy him they discover the real enemy heading towards Earth.

Astro finds out that Atlas is essentially his brother and appeals to him for help against the aliens. Atlas refuses and Astro goes to fight with the army alone. Can Livian appeal to Atlas to reconsider before the Earth is conquered?

This is the final Atlas episode and in the english chronology it took place only two episodes before The Greatest Robot two part climax. Obviously they wanted the Atlas storyline to wrap up with the end of the series approximately whereas in Japan there were about 10 further adventures after Atlas and Livian were written out of the show. If you want to know what happens to them you must watch the episode.

I'll soon be finished with these reviews.

Episode 43: The Snow Leopard

Strange things are happening in the city. First it is snowing in late summer of all times of the year. Very weird indeed. But there's more. What can the source of this unusual snow be?

Astro is rocket blasted high above the snow clouds to investigate and he comes face to face with a flying leopard. Who is behind all these occurrences and what is the motive for them?

More coming soon.

Episode 44: Uran's Quest

Uran wants to meet God in this episode. She decides to try asking the computer at Children's Land Amusement Park where she can find Him. The computer is supposed to know everything but to her disgust it cannot seem to answer her question.

Suddenly though the computer starts to proclaim that it is God. When Uran refuses to believe, saying that's it's nothing but a crazy computer it becomes angry. To Uran's horror it begins to demonstrate its godly power by making all the rides at Children's Land go out of control at immense speeds. All the kids are in terrible danger.

Let's hope Astro is in the nearby neighbourhood.

We're almost finished now friends.

Episode 47: The Human-Faced Rock

Daddy Walrus has taken Astro and Uran on a holiday to the village of River Valley. At the top of a nearby mountain there is a huge boulder with the features of a man's face on it. The villagers have a creepy legend that when the rock turns around so that the face is looking down upon the village it will be the destruction of their homes.

It seems like nonsense to Daddy Walrus but earthquakes are plaguing the village and the rock seems to be slowly turning with each quake. Is this the curse or is there some other logical explanation?

Down to 4 episodes now.
