OH, POO!

Sorry, you couldn't have made it to JHC before you left the 70's.

Well, there's always next time!

Guess what? I got to see BTTF on the big screen Tuesday night! It was a "Meet the Writer" thing. Bob Gale (not Zemeckis) was there. They showed a nice, cleaned-up copy of the film, and Bob spoke before and after about the making of it. It was AWESOME! They were throwing BTTF watches into the audience as giveaways (not unlike the stuffed Kermits), and I got one. I'm wearing it now--it replaced my TMS 25 Years watch. (Sorry! I've worn that one all year!)

If you want to read more about the event, I'm sure there's a summary at www.bttf.com.

I don't wish I was a Kellogg's cornflake, but I do occasionally wish I was an Oscar Meyer weiner.

Happy negative birthdays to everyone!

You are now my new favorite person.

I used to post a lot on the message board at bttf.com, however that was before I really became the Muppet freak that I am today (and I spend all of my time posting here and at Tough Pigs)...

Wow Tom that is awesome! Glad you were able to be there. I read about the event earlier this week, and wished I was closer. What did you think about the new transfer of the film? I'm sure there was a lot of energy in the crowd which made it even that much better.

It has to be as cool as me seeing Ghostbusters at the Memphis Orpheum Theater 2 summers ago when it was FULL of people!! There IS a whole new energy to it in that setting than watching the film on tv at home.

Phil:

It *was* great! Brand new transfer of the film; the same one used for the DVD. They didn't use the new soundtrack, but they did use a cleaned-up version of the original Dolby. And both you and Foz are right: there IS a greater excitement when you have a bunch of people passionate about the particular movie. There was lots of cheering for favorite characters and laughing at all the best lines. They even used the ORIGINAL ending credits, which diehards will know did NOT end with "To be continued..." (That was added for video, when they knew a sequel would be made.) It felt like it was 17 years ago all over again! I guess we did our own time traveling...

I had a third-row seat, which turned out to be even better than I expected, because the first two rows were seperate from the rest. So I had about FIVE FEET of leg room, plus I still had a good view of the screen. It was movie heaven.

Emmy:

Yeah, the message board on bttf.com is fun, but it's hard to think of new things to talk about sometimes, when you're only dealing with three movies as opposed to the wealth of different Muppet-related product. Not that I want them to make more BTTF movies, though. Why mess with perfection?

I do hope I get the DVDs for Christmas (if not, I'm gonna use my nice little Christmas bonus to buy 'em). There is just so much I want to see (the special features look awesome, seeing the end of Part I one without "To Be Continued" tacked on the end", and see how messed up the framing is on Part II and Part III)!

I think one of the main reasons that I stopped visiting the message board at bttf.com was the fact that there was little silliness. I mean there are only so many times you can talk about what happened to Old Biff as he got out of the Delorean. Some people decided to try something new and be a bit silly, and it didn't quite work on that board, and I kind of lost interest and went to where I could be silly (lukcy MC, lol). I still lurk, but I haven't posted in ages...
