Times are changing. I've heard both of those words uttered on Cartoon Network (outside of Adult Swim) at times.

Really? I guess cartoons started getting conservative in the mid 80s for violence and PC purposes, but maybe things are going back the other direction. I didn't mind that they left that stuff in, but it shouldn't have had the "family friendly" label. If that's family friendly, then I don't mind if Disney turns the Muppets into that! LOL!:concern:

Yeah i bought it right after school today ( i rode my bike in the rain for Roger...i gotta get a car) i have been watching everything all day!!!!

yes i agree with Jamie, i would have like larger gossly photos in the booklet, i think the Roger and Jessica photos are nice but could have been in color too, i also wish it had a hard cover case, but it's still very nice.

i didn't know Benny was gonna be in 3D, in someways it's kinda cheep, but others cool. i guess it's easier then drawing new stuff for benny.

I don't know if this is an easter egg or not but the trailer of the movie can be played on the first disk when riding in benny, just click next to the meter!

the game was lame, i thought it would pick up when it says you get to drive benny, but no, it gets worse!....ehh it's a DVD game and they are all like this kinda game, the shrek game makes me sick! I think the only part of this RR game i liked was the tirva! lol!

I was hoping for new roger rabbit animation, they used roger but taken from parts the movie and just pecied in Fleischer saying new things for him in the little bits he was in. I'm talking about the who made roger rabbit extra here.

The three cartoon's are the blessing of the DVD! i had only seen Tummy Trouble years ago, i remember seeing ads for Rollercoaster Rabbit with i think the Dick Tracy flim on trailers on TV. i wanted to see it so badly but i don't think my parents wanted me to see Dick Tracy when i was that young. i don't know when Trail Mix up came out, but that was a really great one too!

I know all three came out on video at one point, i almost bought it used for only 5 bucks about 2-3 years ago and i would have but the video store when out of busness before i bought it, well it saved me 5 bucks three years ago now on this dvd;-)

yes i thought it was neat to see Chuck Jones' Donald Duck drawings! also all the other photo gallerys!

And to Tom and Jamie, the Funeral scene is talked about a little on the dvd, there were also other bits they said they cut out such as when Eddie, Bugs and Mickey are in the air there was going to be a pause and all three of them would be looking in the window of the building to see a toon poker game going on! but they had to cut that out, also there was more to the Benny the cab ride. that makes me mad, i love the benny parts, there is a drawing a benny in the gallery of him riding on the road of the edge of a cliff with his wheels up.

I'm not sure i understand the toon pig part, i mean when does it take place? right after Eddie asks if Roger can say in the dinner? Eddie then says he's going to his office. if that's how it lines up to the part where Jessica comes in. the toon pig was funny, but i can understand why it was cut out in someways. doesn't it say in the booklet that the pig scene is placed where it would have been in the movie? or am i miss reading it?

good dvd! i can't belive i spent all day on it!!!

That's exactly where the pig scene was placed. After Eddie breaks loose from the cuffs, he says he's going to the Ink and Paint Club, not back to his office.

Even the cover artwork was from old stock images. I guess there may be legal issues and an approval process about drawing new pictures because two different companies own the film. A foldout poster really would have been terrific! I can't complain. I've got two pieces of the film hanging above me!

The one thing I did learn from the DVD is that the shading wasn't pieced together in the computer. I knew it was hand inked, but not to the extent reported. It's all a sort of in-camera trick where the pieces of film were merged together I guess. Technical things weren't discussed with that much depth. Like Jessica's dress. I know from a different interview that ILM filtered light through scratched wool in plastic. I would like to see how they did it.

The 3-D Benny shocked me too. I am so glad that Roger Rabbit was made in the 80s. Computer animation just doesn't have the same weight of traditional animation in that context. There are ways they could have given it more of a hand drawn look. I do know that if they make a sequel (unlikely) that it will be computer animated. I still hope it happens anyway.

BTW, where was that expanded scene with Mickey, Bugs and Eddie shown? Must have missed it.

Okay, I am totally obsessed with this film! This is a brilliant version of the film and I should just be happy! I am very pleased.

You rode through the rain? Could you be a bigger Roger fan than I am? Oh no! LOL!

I think family-friendly versions of films can be a good thing, as long as the package is clearly labeled so that the buyer is not misled about his purchase.

I am so looking forward to this. I never even got a chance to see Trail Mix-Up, though it was in storyboard stage when I visited Disney-MGM in '92. I'm glad they played it smart and decided to include them all in one package!

I haven't seen the cover art for the DVD, but I must say I prefer the theatrical poster to the video release art.

I think the new Warner Bros. shorts might be fun. They've got one of the writers of "The Simpsons" spearheading the new shorts. (I can't believe customers complained about them. Like Foz said, the problem is too many advertisements, not the cartoons!) Previous attempts to revive the shorts in the 90's were not that funny, but with the right creative team, I believe it can work again. The TV Guide article I read said that they were hoping to get some out by "Harry Potter," but since they had just started in October (!), that was hugely wishful thinking. I hope we'll be hearing more about these in the summer.

BTW, for those who don't want to see the other movies in order to see the Matrix shorts, I believe they'll be releasing those on the DVD with the Matrix sequels.

What about those two Chuck Jones directed? I think the were called 'The Fast and the Furriest' and 'Superior Duck'. I didn't see either of them but I figure Chuck, of all people, could do it right.

Hey Jamie, no the mickey, bugs and Eddie sceen paused to look at a toon poker game was not shown, sorry if i made it sound that way, in the comentary they talk about it during that air falling part, as also they talked about a longer Benny the cab sceen too, something about a semi truck and such, i always thought there should have been more of benny's rising wheels trick, but i guess he's getting to old for that:wink:

the toon pig part is the only deleted sceen shown, if they did shoot the other parts i wonder why they did have them on this dvd? it sounded like they shot the sceens to me in the comentary. there may even be more parts that they will "talk" about for beging cut out, i didn't watch the whole movie with the comentary yet, just selected some of my favortie parts to see what was said about them.

they also said they couldn't get the rights for Felxi the cat but that there is a drawing of his face on the tunnle to toon town.

i guess i got mixed up in the toon town/ real life day light/ night swicthes, at toon town it can change at any second!:concern: I thought Eddie said he was going to the office but i must be mixed up again

Yeah, i road my bike in the rain, but i payed a bigger price for the dvd because of it, i went to my local blockbuster, got the last copy too, then rather takening the 40 min bike ride to media play and the 40 min ride back total of 80 min's in the rain to pay a cheep price but i'd be all wet and VERY tired....like i said i gotta get a car for those times i can't get a ride....  I can't belive i did it once in the snow to get muppet action figures!!!!!LOL! i'll never do that again! that was dangeroius! You have art cells Jamie, i would count that as a very BIG fan!

I watched the commentary last night. I was expecting more, but maybe that's because I know so much about the film already. There were many opportunities to discuss things that they passed over. Still lots of new stuff.

Mn, that stinks. It would have been so cool to see Felix in the cartoon, working along side Betty Boop at the Ink and Paint club....

Too bad the other missing scenes didn't get used. If I had a DVD, I'd Still buy this thing, though.

All and all, I just wish they'd release more R.R. collectibles at the Disney Store or something. I have the Bean Bags of Roger and Benny from a few years back, plus a R.R. Collector's coin. They had a Snowglobe too, but it was very expensive, and very fragile....
