Zellweger also gained a lot of weight for Bridget Jones. I don't think she's anorexic. I think thin is her body type. Not many people would gain one pound for a role, much less twenty! She’s not my favorite actress, but I don’t think she’s in the bubblegum Julia territory. (Not to say Roberts isn’t a capable actress, but I don’t think she’s the best either.) My faves? Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon, Kathy Bates etc.

I liked her in Erin. The rest were capable performances like I said before. It's my opinion and I'm stickin with it. No need for the "Oh come on." I do enjoy some of her movies and see some of them in the theater, but I'm never stoked to go see a Roberts movie like I am with other actors.

BTW, Brokovitch was a great film. She was hardly in Oceans. It was okay, but I didn't enjoy it that much. I found the Mexican to be boring and almost unwatchable.

And Catherine was nominated for Supporting Actress...and her with all the talent, musical ability and beauty!

That's probably because Rene Zellweger played the main character in the movie, and Catherine Zeta-Jones played a supporting character. The movie was about Rene's character. It was about both of them, but primarily Rene's...

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory

Hey Guys,

This just came off the news wire. Looks like Tim Burton is in talks to remake Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Filmmaker Tim Burton (news), whose quirky credits range from "Beetlejuice" to "Batman," is in talks with Warner Bros. to direct a new movie adaptation of the Roald Dahl children's classic "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."

The studio confirmed a report in Daily Variety on Thursday that Burton will meet in London in the next few days with surviving members of the Dahl family to discuss the project.

The Dahl estate, which holds rights to the late author's works, has the final say over a director for the film, and Burton is the family's leading candidate for the job, one source close to the situation told Reuters.

The studio, a unit of AOL Time Warner Inc., is hoping to begin pre-production on the film by the end of this year, the studio said.

The 1964 novel was first made into a movie in 1971's "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory," starring Gene Wilder (news) as the eccentric chocolatier who tempts children all over London with the possibility of finding a golden ticket hidden in one of his candy bars. He then leads the young winners, including meek little Charlie Bucket, on a tour of his mysterious candy factory.

Dahl, who died in 1990, wrote the original screenplay from his own book, though by some accounts was unhappy with the final product. The movie was a box office disappointment and initially drew lackluster reviews, as many critics found it to be too dark. But the film has become somewhat of a cult classic over the years.

"Willy Wonka" was released by Paramount Pictures, which reportedly is developing an adaptation of another Dahl book, "The BFG."

According to Variety, a screenwriter who worked on the "BFG" project, Gwyn Lurie, was tapped by Warner Bros. to pen a rewrite of the initial script for its "Chocolate Factory" adaptation.

Burton is best known in Hollywood for his creative renderings of such fantasy films as "Batman," "Beetlejuice," "Edward Scissorhands," "Sleepy Hollow" and a remake of "Planet of the Apes."

If the film is to be remade, Burton's the guy. I enjoyed scenes from the original Willy Wonka and Gene Wilder's performance was spectacular, but for some reason I never enjoyed the movie as a whole. I know many people would disagree. I'm very excited to see Buron's vision. I just don't want him to become the remake guy.

heard about that burton may direct the film, if he says yes. nothing is finalized yet, but tim would be a good choice. but i liked the first one and i don't know if this movie should be redone.

anyways, i saw bruce almighty today, and i thought it was a good jim carrey movie that was funny and also kind of sweet and made you think a little bit. it's a little predictable but it is still a good movie to go see.

3 out of 4 stars

Tim Burton sounds like a great choice for the movie. With him behind it, it's most deffenitely going to stand out as different from the original. Hopefully, that "different" will be good...

My brother and sister are on their way to see Bruce Almighty. Sounded pretty good.

Don't really like the idea of remaking Willy Wonka but oh well....

A new movie coming out in the States next month is The Hard Word, an Australian comical crime flick starring Guy Pearce and the excellent Rachel Griffiths. Get out and see this movie when released, as it's one of the most entertaining of its type for quite a while.

You can read my review of the film on JoBlo's Movie Emporium here:-
