I'm somewhat concerned* about the Halloween remake... Rob Zombie's approach is to delve a little more into Michael Myers' backstory, which I think is totally unnecessary. He's a cold-blooded killer - I don't want to feel bad for him. Doesn't that take away from the point?

*Then again, I guess I should be glad I'm only "concerned" rather than "deathly afraid"... there could be worse directors on this project.

I know I'm afraid! Yeah, it does take away the point, but maybe at this point they are looking in a different direction.

I'm very much looking forward to the Halloween remake. The original Halloween is one of my favorite films. But I didn't care for any of the sequels. I never bought the premise that Michael Myers is Laurie Strode's brother. That wasn't John Carpenter's original intention. The first film had no connection between Myers and Laurie. Myers had no motivation for stalking her. She was simply another potential victim. And Carpenter didn't expect the film to spawn any sequels. He ends his film perfectly. But once it became a success, a sequel was inevitable. Part 2 is where the Michael-Laurie connection was first made.

Zombie's film will have them related as well. I don't really mind a little of Michael's backstory, but of course it's much scarier if we don't know anything about him or his motives.

Other than that, Zombie has assembled a great cast of genre actors, a lot of them members of his unofficial "stock company," who have appeared in his two previous features. Zombie has said he has absolutely no interest in making a sequel to his Halloween. It's done, and he wants to move on.
