Luke, as stated in another post, this isn't a bad day at all. Heck the Nov 29 day isn't all bad. "The Santa Clause 2" was released Nov 1. now that's early. But Christmas basically begins right after the close of thanksgiving. This is usually the night my fam puts up the tree. I'm looking forward to Muppety goodness to aid in the entrance of the yule.

Why so negetive? The thing hasn't even come out. At anyrate I think your grumblings are a little much on this. We're lucky it's as late as it is. I darn near gashed out my own ears at work today as kids singing christmas tunes has plagued our workplace. As if the screaming kids getting there pictures taken by force of their parents isn't bad enough.

It just seems like one more case of the henson's not satisfying a fan who feels that they always know what's best. Only my opinion though and to be taken with the weight of a feather. Usually I agree with you but this time, I think you must come state side to see the onslaught of holiday commercialism and you'll see it's not such a bad time at all.

From what i'm aware the Henson Company had made this under the assumption that it would be screened a bit later and the budget and forward planning with NBC reflects that. It seems to have been moved to late November to attract viewers at the tail end of the sweeps and also to sell the DVD's through December. I agree that the Sunday after Thanksgiving isn't such a bad date though and it should get decent figures - just the usual reason why you ever shoot a christmas special with celeb cameos (and i've been involved with a couple myself) is to get their faces on screen over the christmas period so they can be seen as actually having something on air - this (in my view) doesn't really give them anything more P.R wise than a slot on Letterman would.

It's not really a case of Henson not satisfying a fan who thinks they know best because Henson has ABSOLUTELY no control over when this would air anyway and probably have their own ideas about that which we have no idea about. Personally i wouldn't stick Muppets in a Friday evening spot usually but being after the Thansgiving holiday it's not too bad. I think you'll find the Fox show airing on 'shoulder peak' on Sundays which is where the Muppets should be on a weekly basis.

I do realise though that in the states things get a bit crazier a lot earlier than the UK - i think it'll air a lot later in December here. Anything christmassy in November here would just be totally wierd.

I don't think Luke is being negetive or humbugy about it but it is diffrent everywhere during the holiday seasons, i was at the mall the other day and it's filled with christmas, even a large wooden chair is placed in the center of the mall with christmas tree's...i don't know whats it's for yet, but its there;-) no santa yet but soon.

The holidays go by so fast it should start early, christmas will be over and gone before you know it, now not to a small child in which the month of December is like a year, but it goes by so quickly when your older, some people like it that way, but certainly not all.

Christmas movie's all ways come out in theather before December, i think Jim Carry's the Grinch came out sometime in Novemeber last year, or was it the year before? I dont remember. and when selling christmas movie/dvd you want people to watch them all month long and not a week before chirstmas.

Now i'm blue in the face (Pun intended, but you don't know the pun yet, hold on)
Well anyways i'm blue in the face at the date of this because it's inconvent for me only, but i don't think its a bad air date. But I would rather have it on Sunday the 8th. Sunday just seems like the day to show it. Disney will probaly show something people have seen a million times and will play a million time that month.
But the only reason i'm blue in the face is because I will be out of town in the windy city visting and staying with hardly known relitives on my step dad's side of the family and the night after thanksgiving we will be seeing a live show called the blue men in which guys painted blue perform mime like act's...or at least I think thats what it is, you might have seen TV ads...Or not.

So yes i'm ticked off i can't see the orignal airing of this, but I'll ask my grandparents to tape as they are the Macy's parade, I could ask if i could tape it at my step uncles house too but I would feel very weird doing it because they have know idea i'm into the Muppets.

I do hope that NBC..I keep thinking is CBS (because I like CBS better and starting to like it more then ABC, i think Raymond's the reason), but i do hope that this movie is played more then once this holiday season, in all the press news it keep saying "movie to air in December!" wether it be dec 1-31 sometime in december no one thought it would be right after Thanksgiving.

oh well, okay we can junk this post now;-)

I'll be back in the Windy City over Thanksgiving as well, Zack, since that's my hometown (actually the suburbs). If you think you'll have time, e-mail me! Maybe we can share some Muppet merriment together.

On a side note, I agree with Luke that Sunday nights on Fox would be the best time slot for the new Muppet series. Right in between Simpsons and Malcolm in the Middle, two of their best comedies. (King of the Hill seems like it's just "filling a slot" right now anyway till a midseason replacement comes along -- then I expect it'll move back to earlier in the evening.) While Sunday night has been bad for the Muppets before, in both cases that was opposite CBS' powerhouse "60 Minutes." Putting the Muppets in the middle of an already successful comedy lineup is a much better place for them to get a fighting chance. Comparisons to "Greg the Bunny" will be inevitable in that timeslot -- but then comparisons to "Greg" will be inevitable anyway. Hopefully those will quickly fade, and in two years people will still be enjoying the Muppets and saying, "Greg who?"

Here in the states the Christmas season gets kicked off the day after Thanksgiving and its intense until the 25th of December.

CBS has been airing Rudolph the past several years the day after Thanksgiving, and I know there are a ton of people who have to see that every year because of its obvious awesomeness. I don't love the idea of the Muppets going up against Rudolph but thank god for vcrs and I hope it gets huge ratings.
